Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

You’d have to drag me out

I know what the responses are going to be. I am under no illusion that Macy’s isn’t a sinking ship with little to no hope of surviving. But everything that is wrong with this company still won’t change my mind about remaining. It’s a job I’ve had for years and I’m not going anywhere - especially during this pandemic. Has anyone ACTUALLY looked at how many millions are unemployed? It certainly scares me. I’m going to stay until they close the doors on my location and throw away the key.

Just because the ship may not look like it’s sinking you can Enjoy the cruise, but you better know where the Life preservers are.

If I were you,I would be keeping my options open. It is much easier to get a job while you are still employed. Millions of people are still out of work looking for a new job, including myself. I had the same mindset as I worked through 55+ Hour weeks as a Manager. It got me no where. Get out while you still can!!!

Your the typical case of a "brainwashed" employee. There are tons of employers looking to hire people outside of Macys. I took my severance last go around and ran out that door. I had 3 job offers waiting for me without that retail b—s—. Save yourself now.

Look all around you. It’s not only Macy’s but Nordstrom is in deep also. They might go private. Dept stores are gonna be beat into the ground within 6 months. Xmas will be a Dud. After inventory that’s when they will cut more people that cost more in stores. Covid is going up and France and Germany are doing lock downs again.

I am one of the lucky ones that left this past summer. I couldn’t be happier, and pity those left because they probably won’t be getting a severance package only the shaft!!!!! They’re not in good financial condition!

Macy's set a cost-savings target of $1.5 billion by 2022. which means more cuts ahead... they are gonna let go the final 20=30 years of service people.. replacement will be a vintage clapping monkey

Hey, I hear you - and I salute your loyalty. Just be careful. Don't give your life/soul to this company. If they offer a buyout package - TAKE IT! Rumor is that there will be no more severance when the next major round of layoffs/closings come. I think the people this summer who got let go were the lucky ones in many ways, they got nice severance packages. Those of us left, I think we are going to get the shaft big time. :-(

When the ships just about sunk, you might wanna jump and go look for a new job. Because everybody else will be doing the same, not only at Macy’s but at many other retailers. Look for a company that’s doing well in the stock market and is providing for what the customer is looking for now and going forward.

Don’t be so loyal you miss a chance at a great job with a company that is succeeding, not circling the drain.

Just a few thoughts.
