Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Better Than Expected

The number of people who have gotten laid off and have been rated as BTE is astounding. Assuming that’s a 2018-2019 rating and not the 2020 mid-year my guess is that more people struggled with the assessment than we know.
Why do I say this instead of saying Allstate already had a list? Besides being a troll? Or that I’m HR, Wilson, or Shapiro in disguise? Because Allstate won’t want the bad press of being sued. They already believe the assessment is legally defendable so it’s unlikely that Allstate would risk a downside.
So bummed for those who had got a BTE rating and were still laid off. Hope you find a better job.

There is no list, if you saw some of the people being kept you would know that, leadership is probably looking at who is being kept and shaking their head, some of the people being retained are not bright.

They definitely had/have a list. And about the “being sued” part - can’t forget the mandatory arbitration agreement in December 2019 they had the foresight to force everyone to sign as a condition of employment. That was the writing on the wall; probably around the same time they knew NGHC acquisition was a go. Smh.

I was told "BTE" was a myth in the field. I made and exceeded every metric that was expected of me one year as a Field Tech and got 3%. It was a "common faith" goal that had nothing to do with my job performance as a Field Tech that dragged me down to 3% so it is BS.

Anyway, I know of someone that performs "Expected" in the DOC and purposefully negatively responded to the Assessment in hopes of getting a severance package was not let go.

Good luck to everyone that is being let go.

I know of a few BTE expected that were laid off, but in their own works they had difficulty on the assessment. I was confused how that would affect them until they said that their assessments were only 30% of the final score, so if they messed up on the assessment and someone who was expected on PDS did well that would end their chance.

It seems that basically BTE is only worth anything if you did OK on the assessment, the crazy thing is I know MANY long term employees who have for a while been at the top of their band that are just waiting for retirement get retained, oh and they always get expected.

The layoffs aren't over! You just survived this round. There will be more, who needs the instability.

It is my experience that the number of people who believe their performance is or should be BTE is much different from those whose performance is actually BTE. Most of those I have heard impacted makes sense in one way or another, I know there are many who were impacted but were very strong performers and their loss is heartbreaking. I hope everyone is able to find something within the company or take advantage of the severance package and find a comparative role elsewhere. Nothing about this process has been easy and I'm glad this chapter is over for claims. Best wishes for everyone still waiting to learn their status.

I do know of 1 person via a colleague in another office that was laid off that was rated BTE in the most recent PDS, the rest of of us that are going away none had BTE, it seems that the BTE rating is like finding a needle in a haystack.

How many adjusters actually got rated BTE?
