Disney was fun, and very much an experience that was undeniably special.
It was a job though.
I know so many college graduates including some from Harvard who have fought to keep that $13-$14 an hour job.
Begging to return. Lost and scared.
You spent a quarter million dollars on an education
And chose to make minimum wage.
What the heck?
Grow up.
I agree with the other comment that whoever posted this is just salty. What a negative attitude to have about a company you claimed to love.
It s—s now, it s—ed in ‘08 but the jobs will come back with time and people can apply to come back and even bridge their time worked. Everyone in the industry is getting hit and Disney was one of the last major companies to do this. It is not Disney’s fault so I’m not sure why the negative initial post, every company has to adjust and it’s not easy, or a choice.
Disney laid off about 50,000 people in April 2020 without a peep of media coverage. This is because Disney hires tens of thousands of people as so-called "contractors" (the legality of this practice is questionable at best). Almost all of these contractors were laid off when Disney furloughed 100K OTHER workers.
Don't act like Disney is some great company who cares about people who they pay. Disney cares about making money (just like every other corporation) and nothing else.
This is one salty post, full of jealousy and envy and wishing others the worst.

I worked with and still maintain relationships with the graduates I’m referring to.
Their pay scales are union negotiated. No disputing what people make.
Disney is very special in many ways to many people.
Patience is rewarded?
They don’t promote people because their patiently waiting.
The patience thing is laughable.
You have to network. Everyone knows this.
I’ll cherish my memories of all the golden moments.
I left DisneyWorld at the beginning of the pandemic.
Gave up the dream.
For the thousands waiting on furlough without even a courtesy letter or phone call.
If they cared. They wouldn’t leave you hanging on and broke.
It’s time to see if all those big degrees from liberal colleges are valued anywhere close to what you spent on them.
These days that diploma, and the fact you’ve been playing dress up for years for minimum wage, will only cause you hardship.
Wake up calls are loud.
I highly doubt anyone who graduated from Harvard and moved to Florida is making 14 an hour. Maybe just an entry job to start but there’s plenty of good paying jobs once you get company experience and move up.
With Disney, patience is rewarded. Yes the pandemic has had people in a panic but for the most part Disney does everything to avoid layoffs and negative PR. Aside from the current pandemic working for Disney gives much better job security than many others.
Many people want to work at Disney, which is why you need patience if you want to move into higher positions.
