Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

No sleep

Still not sleeping, due to not knowing the fate of my current department... this waiting game is the hardest part. I just want to know ASAP.

Try to get some rest. I‘ve been with Allstate 15yrs and felt/experienced the same thing you posted. I also happen to struggle with anxiety. I finally learned last week I “no longer have a role” with the company. I wanted to know ASAP but I was devastated when I learned, especially being a single mother with a 16yo son eating everything in sight& virtual school, mortgage, cc bills, car, ins, etc etc etc. There was no explanation other than ‘company decision’, no assessment results, no feedback, nothing - which caused me a few more sleepless nights. Not to mention, still full receipts, Saturday schedule, month end, still no email from HR to make it official. A coworker of mine in total loss learned in JULY that she’s part of the RIF and she’s STILL waiting to get the same email, and still a full workload expected to power on until, who knows!

I must say though these past couple of nights have been the most restful I’ve experienced in a long time! Just keep in mind we can’t control our fate with this company, they’re going to do what they want to do regardless of how we feel or what we experience personally, and they’ve had this plan in place since Shapiro arrived, been years in the making I’m sure. We can only continue to take care of ourselves/family, and do a good job during work hours. Don’t give more than your 40hrs/wk but continue to make the best of those hours as though this isn’t still looming. Everything happens for a reason. If a door closes, rest assured another bigger brighter one will be opened to you :) Hang in there, take a look at the postings out there daily if your hope/desire is to stay & ask your leader about other openings/opportunities too :)

it’s taken this c-ap to happen for me to see this, but there’s better out there when we compare any other company to this one, saying transparency is important and they care about you, blah blah blah, yet drag this ridiculous process out as long as they have. They say they need the time to plan but don’t think about us little people who may want to plan a little here n there too!
If it makes you feel any better - worst case, Allstate looks great on a resume no matter your tenure. Huge industry but small in that other companies know how hard we work and we’d be considered huge assets elsewhere if the ins industry is what the future holds.
Hope you both fare well & get some zzz’s :)

I’m not sleeping because I was laid off and still do not have the follow up letter and any information as to next steps - claims being cut off, why we have to wait 30 days to use the education service, oh and the fact this will only hold me through a couple weeks before Christmas- thanks Allstate!
