Thread regarding Pratt and Whitney layoffs

Is this P&W's biggest layoff ever?

Has P&W ever laid off this many people before in one single layoff event? Even if they have, I'm guessing this will be P&W's largest white collar layoff ever. It loos like it will hit the salaried population the hardest.

My condolences to all of us who don't make it through this. I just hope I'm not in that group myself.

It depends on where you work in the aftermarket.

I have tons of work and I do MRO in CEE

The hourly staff in EH are probably more secure than all of us...

Military Aftermarket is making money.

But it's still a cost center. Also, it did a ton of hieing in anticipation of a F135 ramp up that has failed to materialize thus far. So I'd be surprised if it made it through unscathed.

Aftermarket is hemorrhaging money, there is no work. The only thing making money is military spares

Everyone on this whole site acts like they know what is even going on.
No one has been laid off yet, so how do you expect anyone to answer that question?

Aftermarket is the one who is making them the money right now...

My father remembers the mid 80s and early 90s layoffs. The current one’s are small in comparison.

I think the hourly staff will be hit the hardest - OEM and aftermarket. Then quality and then engineering in my opinion. This is probably the biggest lay-off
