Anything, if even rumor, to substantiate this? Is that US, or just a number plucked from thin air?

Asia will not see any where near the level of cuts being shared here. However, certain teams and sub functions will see the majority of the resources let go. It's necessary to make fundamental changes to fix the company long term.

Do the cuts quickly and decisively. Let it not be death by a thousand cuts. After all is said and done, HL should consider selling off HV, and focus its traditional business. There is no way HV can be a leader in the IT vendor space.

Four small group conversations where I was a low-key observer with the new CEO tell me that he is a simpleton.

He is decisive, aggressive, but not wise or intelligent. A man scared to ask questions in front of women. A man incapable of not being the smartest person in the room on every topic.

The question is to ask the chairman what the CEO’s payout is based on. Was he brought in just to fire thousands or to actually grow? That first choice sounds like a regular HV racket.

This company is being run by an incompetent @$$hole and will fire big time to shift the business in a new direction with a flip of the switch. He was a failure before so he knows he can do it again.

And ELTI is only due if you’re in the company at the end of the FY. I guess they’d still have to pay out 2 previous years’ ELTI.
