I always felt the job market for the aviation industry was somewhat secure, but this past year has proven me wrong. Actually, with the downturn in economy, I don’t think any job is safe anymore. And to be honest, that petrifies me - considering that I’m the sole breadwinner in my family. Which is not doing any favors to either my physical or mental health. How are the rest of you coping with this?

I left Automotive with the same assumption as everyone else that Aerospace was a stable industry.
I just can't catch a break.
Right with you. Sole breadwinner. Super stressful. Always thought aerospace was a relatively stable industry. Guess you should never get too comfortable.
I am not the breadwinner in my family. Financially, we will be ok. However, we live in a location that is not conducive finding a job, especially in the industry, so I won't be working after I'm laid off. Emotionally, I'm a wreck.
Also, aviation has never been secure. I know...I graduated from college in the spring of 2002.
Aviation was doing well until covid. Things will bounce back more quickly than predicted.
