But they never clearly stated that high prior performance, long tenure, and high assessment scores would be kept. This was pretty much assumed ad normal thinking people would surmise. "Best of the best" that they touted could have been their fatter bonuses and higher shareholder returns for all we know.

From reading comments it sounds like they may have kept the followers and dumped those with personality type (from assessment) of seaching for new answers, critical thinking, etc. This might make (ridiculous chort sighted) sense. If their plan is to outsource most to India you really don't want people who ask questions or think for themselves.
65% performance (over past two years)
35% assessment
And the 'tie breaker' was tenure, 5%. Idea tenure was not to be a major factor in their decision
Nope. It was 60% performance, 35% assessment, 5% tenure. Looking at the documentation we received when informed of our assessment as I type this.
I had asked before about how they looked at the performance reviews. Majority of employees are rated meets. You can be a high meets, low meets or middle of the road meets. I asked if they were taking into consideration these factors and I was told, No. There was no way for them to go through all of the performance reviews and decipher which employees were high meets vs. low meets performers. To them, a meets, is a meets, is a meets.
Since 65% of the formula was the assessment and 5% was tenure if anyone thought that long tenured people would have an advantage they were living in a fairy tale, it is simple math since.
Some people were just let go, I know of a few that had the same job titles and those that were C1 band stayed and did assessments, the C2 band people were just let go no assessment at all.
There was another group where the B1 were kept without assessments and the B2 were given assessments.
I know people who didn’t even take the assessment, and still have a job. I don’t understand and never will!
So a know a few people who had many years of tenure and were fantastic performers who didn’t even get to do the assessment and where let go. This was a shock.
