Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Embarrassed

A company that lays off workers who are battling cancer and other life threatening illnesses should be exposed. 60 minutes, 20/20 or Dateline needs to know about these cold hearted ba$t–ds!

Long tenure and high salary hit hard. They sprinkled in some others to stay out of trouble. Would like to know how Allstate is awarded best Ethical company.

I was one of the affected individuals that has been out a lot on FMLA for treatments and was told the same it was based on performance, I’ve never underperformed with my time at Allstate and I am the only person in my department to be let go. I’m thankful for the time I had. They gave a fair amount of warning so it shouldn’t be a surprise. Just because you survived this round doesn’t mean you will the next round of layoffs and there will be more coming.

In claims we were told performance was 60%, assessment was 35% and tenure was 5% so not sure how the assessment was “the biggest part” in any of this. As an exceeds employee for my entire career- even if I blew the assessment the performance criteria should have picked up the slack. In my office they kept a lot of the dead weight while getting rid of high performing employees , both long term and fairly new. That criteria was just to give false hope. The snakes already knew what they had planned. All RCLs in my region were let go - really don’t believe all 8 of them tanked the assessment. This company isn’t transparent AT ALL.

to the OP, if you are the one going through this sorry you are dealing with all this at once, I have lost many family to cancer and they should have done something to put you in STD or something to protect you.

now to those that are complaining that it wasn't done by the criteria told to us, you do realize the assessment was the biggest part? your tenure and PDS really don't mean sh–. Most of use would get just a few points for tenure so that is a wash for most everyone, if you maxed out on PDS that would be 30 points, if your competition was average for 2 years that would be 20 points, if your competition was below and got 10 points this means your competition just needs to do a little bit better on the assessment and you are gone.

If a person didn't take the assessment they were not eligible for severance, those that did not take the assessment were contacted directly and explained this, then they were given a chance to take it, and everyone that I know was contacted took it as there were told take it and maybe stay, but don't take it and you will be out with no severance, but not everyone needed to take an assessment, one of my former coworkers was one of the few that didn't need to take it since they were in a different band then the rest of his team, he said it was weird.

Bull Sh** there are people that did not take the assessment because they wanted severance and they are safe. I am aware of several people who have had bad reviews 2 of more years in a row and they are also safe.

In my claims dept the people who did not make the talent selection have all been under performing individuals. The selection process was done fairly! I’m glad the slackers got cut.

Yup this is true. Many high performers were let go.

This was NOT done via the criteria that was presented. I know many high performing tenured employees that were let go over low performing short tenured employees. Anyone who believes otherwise has been gargling the blue kool-aid a little too hard.

The heads of this company are compulsive liars and scam artists who don't give a flying f*** about anyone else. TW, GS, EB, JP and their arse kissing lesrons have ruined this company. Liberty Mutual 2.0 at play here.

Performance was not a factor in this as I have been rated better than expected the last 4 years. Never an inconsistent employee, and I was impacted. The given criteria was complete BS - just something to cover their behinds. At the end of the day we are all numbers on an excel sheet- not human beings. And no one is truly “safe”a just safe from this round. Probably a blessing in disguise I won’t be there to witness the mess that will come of this.

It's a shame if someone lost their job while battling cancer. But my understanding was that our past two years performances played a major role in this so if your past few years were already bad before you got diagnosed with cancer that's really not the company's fault.

These scumbags would lay off their own parents and kids if it meant a few more nickels in their already unwarranted fat bonuses.
