What do you think about it?
@7dlf+175PYDrG so I assume you don’t use plastic, because of the hydrocarbons?
Nor do you use electric vehicles because of the mining for minerals to make the batteries?
Yes, celebrate people losing their job. I am sure those that work in the shop appreciate your pithy response.
Glad to see it happen. Chalk one up for the environment. Earth 1 Global warming flat earth rinosaurs 0. Even the pope says oil is evil.
@1uyt+175PYDrG Yeah, because in an implementation they copy and paste (literally) the previous implementation they did somewhere else.
The one done at GP for Oracle was copied from a motherboard manufacturing company.
What you think about it?
They got ran out of the country by PV Fluids, Dyna Drill, and Abaco...LOL
How humiliating!
Plant manager can't make the industry need the products you make. Plain and simple that's what it boils to. Every single facility in the oilfield runs with horrific efficiency. Go to any plant for any company and they all run terribly. The good ole days were great because you had fewer competitors and more money to make so it was awesome. It was awesome in that it hid every nasty and ugly blemish and fault within the business. No more crazy money coming in, no more need for the facility. I'm sorry for those who are losing their jobs but this was due a long time ago and is happening across every O&G manufacturer.
@1jmb+175PYDrG You can thank outsourcing to India and consultants for the poor implementation of the ERP systems. It takes a background in the oilfield to understand what is required for the ERP to properly function. Not sure how upper management (c-suite) thinks that using the consultants is more cost effective when it always needs to be re-done. Expect more of this in the future as the IS groups are being decimated.
Definitely not celebrating the closure of this facility. Too many workers already stressed from months of layoffs.
Thanksgiving lunch at that plant was filled realism mixed with optimism. Then January 1st rolled around.
Then it became clear even pre-COVID that things were not going to pick up, despite hopeful optimism at the end of 2019.
The (insert your choice of deity here)’s honest truth is that given the demand, the Nisku facility did a better job or at least a more efficient job.
Also, the reports being used at 8018 never matched between ops and others and not because of malice, but the way they set of JDE was rudimentary, at best.
The sad truth is most NOV business units are inefficient and rely too heavily on poorly implemented ERP systems, that so many swear are state of the art. Many of which don’t actually transact within the systems themselves.
It’s sad because if you work for a company, you put a certain level of trust in management because your livelihood depends on the success and failure of the company.
We shouldn’t celebrate but celebrate finding places to work that value this.
I would used to argue Grant Prideco as a model for that, but I can’t say that with a straight face.
Good grief. Why do so many of you take joy and glee with many losing their job? We talk about what is wrong with NOV, some people just need to look in the mirror.
Couldn't happen to a better bunch of people.
Good f—ing riddance! Place was doomed from the start!
Hard to see a way for plant management to fix barely any sales.
WTF? They ought to close the NOV across the street too. Engineering Director there isn't shy about trying to take CAPS' President's job behind his back and kisses his rear while under mining RR's improvement initiatives. Just look at how many projects are kicked off with absolutely no business case and are even started after potential customers have inked contracts with our competition. RR would be wise to verify any of this; but then again he might earn his keep before that DOT (NOT FEATHER) undermines and takes his job.
