Thread regarding Disney layoffs

A View on Legacy vs. An Furloughed Employee

Iger's Net Worth is 690 million.
Chapek's Weekly Salary is $48,076.92. That's over $9,500 Daily.

vs.

Furloughed Disney Employee (FL) total max unemployment gross is $275 per week.
Florida unemployment benefits for those furloughed in the spring when end soon.

(Note: For those thinking, "Why don't you start applying for jobs," there are very few job opening listed in the Orlando metro area. I have no money to move. And, Disney does not provide letters of recommendation for cast members.)

If it comes up in an interview, just say that if you get the position you’ve applied for, then you will resign from Disney and offer proof of resignation to the new employer. It shouldn’t be an issue.

"Furlough" is the worst kind of limbo for an employee to be in. You can't really find another job because most potential employers will think/believe that as soon as you get called back (by Disney), you will go back, and then the employers will be left in the lurch again. Employers don't want that. It wastes their recruitment and hiring budgets. This current situation is a lose-lose one for Disney Cast Members.

I have had two great interviews for two different positions this month, and in both the state of my furlough has been a primary issue. It is extremely difficult to answer to this issue. I highly doubt I will move forward in the application process, even though I am very qualified for the positions. How have readers been handling "what about your furlough situation" questions during screenings and interviews? Any advice?

To add to the comment why don’t we start applying for other jobs…several employers are not considering Disney employee applications because they know we are furloughed and not laid off so they figure we will go back to Disney some day. It has put a lot of us in an awkward position to either wait it out or quit all together before we get hired somewhere else in a very tight job market.

It's even worse than that - salary is actually the lowest form of compensation that Chapek receives. He makes many multiples of that in stock options/target bonuses and long term incentive grants. That's why the executive "salary" cuts were a complete load of horse sh– that people fell for.
