Now that the CDC had officially stated that Covid is airborne beyond 6ft, and that its one of the most contagious airborne diseases in existence, will Lowes finally force everyone to wear a mask? I am sick of walking backwards, getting verbally and some physically assaulted by non mask wearers saying Im a coward, and getting yelled at by regular people for not enforcing the mask rule. Everyone seems to think the pandemic is over, yet one of our specialists was sent home early for “not feeling well”. Wtf?!? What are we going to do to be able to protect ourselves and the customers?

To the trolls: the CDC pulled it because it was a draft, not because it wasn’t accurate. So its something they were going to be releasing and was at least partially factually correct.
Please stop with your attention seeking troll nonsense. This is a serious situation. You are in no position to advise or bully people into not listening to science, hard evidence, and unfortunately for some of us, first hand experience of this virus. If you are only listening to your one preferred news source and/or known fake news websites and Facebook pages, you are just irresponsible and sad that you can be manipulated that easily. Look at the actual medical and scientific information directly and think for yourself, not beat and march to the troll drum they are telling you to.
As for the original poster, protect yourself no matter what. These companies do not care about us, and they wonder why no one is applying for jobs with us.
Lowe’s doesn’t care, I agree with people getting Covid fatigue now, but even at the height Lowe’s didn’t make people wear masks while competitors did. Not until most states required it did they follow suit, BUT don’t require them, do nothing to encourage customers coming without one to get one. Even most of our employees don’t wear one that covers nose and mouth or wear gator which is NOT a mask, which is what the sign on our door says is required.
SO a you need to do what you need to do to protect yourself, wear good masks and stay 6-10ft from everyone. Customer gets too close I say 6ft, and back 10ft away. I don’t care what they say or think. I won’t fill in as cashier because we can’t stay 6ft and don’t have plexiglass in Garden Center.
In my opinion this is going to go on til mid 2021 so if I continue to work at Lowe’s my #1 priority will be minimizing my Covid risk at Lowe’s.
cdc has already come out and said that report isnt official and shouldnt have been published.
the harsh reality is we have no real way of knowing the true numbers and thus the true risk. I do know of a co-workers sister in law who had an appointment for a covid test but changed her mind and did not get tested. She received a notice several days later stating that her test came back positive. So that shows you the authenticity of "the numbers'. History will tell us what was handled correctly and what, if anything was overblown. Do the best you can and take reasonable precautions but living in a bubble is not a viable option.
The CDC isn‘t the media.
I am high risk, I can’t afford to think the media is sensationalizing the virus. I will wear my mask because my doctor said if there were ten people in a room, I would be the first to get it. The virus isn’t gone, people are getting sick and dying still. You
Can do what you like. But I’m going to keep handing out masks to my team until it’s over.
Everyone should just wear a mask. How difficult is that? The covid numbers are increasing in Europe and USA. Every day almost a 1000 people die in USA because of covid. Now they are taking about another shut down in Europe. And during the cold season, it will get worse with the flu plus covid. This stuff is not going away anytime soon. Even with a vaccine, since not everyone will take it since it seems to be a rush job from the normal 10 year process to a 1 year process. Remember, the vaccine has some controlled amount of virus in it so your body has to fight that and create an immune barrier to it. That's how you build immunity. All vaccine's work that way. Look it up on google and become knowledgeable. Please wear a mask, wash you hands, wash your food packaging, wipe the door knobs, take a shower when you get home, wash your cloths right away, wash your veg with soap and water, microwave the food if you can, wipe counters and whatever you can with a soapy sponge, don't invite others to your home so they don't contaminate the house, stay outdoor when inviting guests - but it can stay airborne for up to 3 hours, etc. Just use your given human common sense. Do good for yourself and others. Hopefully, it will make you happy.
Stop listening to the media, they are making people think it's worse than it is.
