Thread regarding Pratt and Whitney layoffs

I Actually Want to be Laid Off

I'm pigeonholed in my current position. I've applied to now 14 internal positions in the past year (including Collins and legacy Raytheon) and have been passed up for every single one. Not to mention, the site location I'm based at s—s (not Connecticut) and I'm dying to be back in a major city / metro.

It's just too bad they're not taking volunteers. I'd sign up and then take the money so I can move to a more desirable location.

In the mean time, I guess I'll just keep phoning it in and doing the bare minimum until I save enough money to quit.

What about the rest of you? Is there anyone else who WANTS to be laid off?

That's an awfully risky move. It could backfire as they may use it as a reason to deny my unemployment, or instead set me up to be fired for poor performance.

That said, I have let my manager know I'm actively looking for jobs outside of RTX.

If you’ll let someone (leader or hr) know that you’d prefer to be let go, I’m sure they could work it out. Given the current situation, it sounds reasonable.

I’ve asked and asked and asked again. I’m doing the bare minimum but they still say “great job, you’re valued”. F— them.

Too bad folks like me didn't meet their extremely narrow requirements.
