Thread regarding Pratt and Whitney layoffs

Didn't get much sleep last night

I know nothing is probably going to happen before tomorrow at the earliest but I still had trouble sleeping last night. This whole wait is driving me insane and rises my stress levels exponentially. How in the world are we supposed to remain productive when something like this is hanging over our heads?

I'm ok with more work. I'm not ok sitting on the couch collecting unemployment because we overreacted to a virus.

Agreed with the post below. This may only be the beginning. If you do “survive”, expect a lot more work added to your plate.

I've been laid off once before when I worked for Boeing. Found a better job at PW. Now the future is uncertain. One thing I've learned through my total aerospace experience is that everyone can be replaced. The worst mistake we can make is to assume we have total security. We need an "A, B, and C" plan if we're going to overcome these swings.

Its really a shame too. Aerospace was leading the charge and this wave of revenue was helping our industry. Now, executives are saying the industry won't return until 2024! That's another warning to us to be prepared because I doubt 15K jobs is the end of this dumpster dollar savings initiative.

You would think that senior leaders have more strategies in their tool box than sending all these people to the wood shed. Guess not. : /

Most of the folks I know that left, were fired, or pushed out of legacy UTC have ended up in happier better places. Yeah, in the short term it would s— to get canned, but more likely than not, it will work out better for most. A blessing in disguise as they say...

Been laid off three times in my career, each time has worked out for the better. Don't let it worry you.

Try to take care. We are all feeling the effects of the stress. Make sure you are eating, taking your breaks during the day and drinking lots of water. Walk or do some kind of exercise as well. If we cannot control the layoff action we can control the stress factor and yhd toll it is taking on us mentally and physically. Take care everyone! Remember you!

The only comfort I can offer you is that you’re not the only one.
