They went and overhauled the whole system for HR and benefits, if you have access while its down, you are probably safe.
If you do not, that might be a bad sign. I have a feeling they went thru and began changing access to lay people off.

A normal organic change
Who would change their direct deposit? One would think you'd WANT your severance.
Your address and direct deposit
Nothing you can change in ESS affects layoffs.
If you had to process 5000 packages would you want people going in and changing anything ???
To the post below: why do you think you are gone? I hope you are ok.
It is said it would be down Thursday at 9am. Until Tuesday. I think that is out of the norm for updates.
Routine maintenance only... Not tied in with layoffs... Yes, I know people are a bit jumpy right now.
"It’s called maintenance. They run updates and push patches during typically low-use times which means... the weekend."
Especially with open enrollment coming up. Sorry guys, don't get your hopes up if you have access - they clearly just finished maintenance early.

access has nothing to do with layoffs. Every employee at my location doesn't have access.
Can anyone NOT get in?
*pretty SURE I'm gone, and I still have access (even though they say it's down through tomorrow).
I don't think this is the case. I'm pretty I'm gone, and I still have access (even though they say it's down through tomorrow).
I got in, I'm surprised
I thought it was down to the 21st for everyone . Can anyone get in ?
