Thread regarding Pratt and Whitney layoffs

Most vulnerable employees to get axed includes:

  1. Poor attendance employees
  2. Paperwork employees
  3. Redundant supervisors
  4. Jobs related more to commercial rather than military work
  5. Employees on disability and endless FMLA
  6. Employee "chandeliers" who watch people work, rather than actual DO work.
  7. High-cost union plants will be microscoped

Leadership will quietly be notified first and they will decide who they actually need. (The "FRIENDS AND FAMILY PLAN" kicks in again)

THIS Monday begins the announcements and before the end of THIS quarter.

(Am I missing anyone?)

"life goes on."

Actually, some of us are unlikely to find another job. Good thing my wife's salary is as secure as anything is these days.

Dont count on those requirements the last time it had massive layoffs had nothing to do with that they even didn't touch people in the d–g and alcohol program. Your supervisor gives up the names. You'll get a severance package and walk you to the door life goes on.

As a Labor Grade 9 , 7 , & 5, I had to watch chandelier employees enjoy a non-productive
life style while at work, but the rest of us of lower labor grade, have to do their work. These employees add no value to the job, and that has affected us all.
NO PRODUCTION means NO JOB.

I don’t think taking all of your vacation time is a bad thing. Employees EARN (and purchase) it. I think employees who call out often are at risk.

So taking your allotted vacation time is considered poor attendance? Management is always encouraging that.

The EIP is a formal plan for salary workers who need to improve. You get it for various issues such as time & attendance but most often for not meeting objectives. It’s real and you know if you are on one.

Add in employees who have left PW and came back at higher salary. A game many have been playing for years.

Regardless of friends or family or not , per the union they will be unable to pick from highest seniority . Even if someone with 20 years seniority has bad attendance there’s not much of anything they can do about it. If they tried laying off higher seniority per the bargain agreement there would be lawsuits up the a– and that’s where I think it’s b—s— . Should go by how much of an asset you are to the company not by the lowest time. There’s people with little time that bust there a–

Lots of good points... Now would be the excuse to clean house. Correct about seniority, but the "friends and family plan" will come into play.

5 weeks vacation plus 1 purchased week, too many sick days would count for poor attendance, common sense.

What's poor attendance? With people entitled to upwards of 6 weeks of vacation a year...are we supposed to take it or not?

Would an employee know they are on an employee improvement plan?

The union is good and bad . I think seniority is b—s— . Top labor grade 0’s and 3’s who get paid to do one job because they refuse to train to learn new things when labor grades 5,6, and 7 bust a– and can perform multiple jobs . I have a feeling whoever is low on the pole that gets laid off will be getting call backs because they will not be producing without them

Good list. The number one will be anyone on an EIP. Employee Improvment Plan. The lay-off is the time to drop them.

I’m assuming you aren’t referring to the union folks, as seniority is the determining factor for a layoff
