But we have to admit the talent in PR and manoeuvre situation to gain advantages for oneself in expense of others. We had seen a few real life examples like in digital manufacturing team/lead/champion

Who doesn’t want to be in RL role??? You just need to know wh… words to ask questions and your CL is same with SLS. Nothing to hold accountability and prerequisite training is Reliability workshop for one day. You don’t even need any strong technical knowledge.

Haha, beside RL and MOC. Another redundant were the training department. What to train? SLS / DH also don't know how to train the people. New technician also on-the -job training, after years of working, your skill also out of date when compare to outside market.

On top of RLs, Other redundant roles that I can think of are operational integrity and MOC coordinator roles.

Do we really need to pay more than 100k p.a. to get someone to chase people to close out their MOC items?

Singapore study was just announced less than half a year ago with 300 employees retrenched and now exxon is trying to hire engineers to plug the unexpected level of attrition. For such a huge company that is supposedly among the best in the industry, the shortsightedness is astounding. You still have delusional management coming out to double down and say that they will do the whole study again if they have a choice. Well , try telling that to the 300 employees who got layoffed. I remembered in 2019 that the company announced that it aims to double its earning in 2025. What a joke , luckily I am out of this shithole and onto greener pasture.

It appears that the RL role is disliked by many in Manufacturing. Hmmm ….. I wonder why?
Good for nothing bunch of clowns they are huh? Getting paid for doing little.
Who are these people?
I don’t come into contact with such roles in my current job.
Must be a newly-designated job role.
In SSM, or ES ah?

16 bunches of Reliability Leader and 2 DH really driving NO Business value at all… can help to save about $4.5M/yr! Creating so many work for us, during meeting just repeating what people say and keep echo and recycle the same motherhood statement. Just PIP them all and our Business will run as usual without them!

You are full of BS and are probably a troll to stir sh!t here.
Based on your CL and YEE, what you claim is way outside HR’s remuneration envelope - even if you are in >80 RGP !!!

EM is filled with managers who look after their own KPI’s. There is no desire to look out for value from the marketplace. As long as your KPI’s look good (very internal metric), who the fxxx cares about losing value to competition. I am CL29, I make $400+ all in, and I have lost faith in management and the co. Just tendered my resignation without a job… my values and integrity are more important than just $. Sure, many will say I’m an old fa-t and can just go off into the sunset blah blah blah… but I’m not 50 yet… there’s a lot more I think I can contribute to an enterprise and to society etc… just don’t think the EM today is one I can live with for the rest of my career, whatever is left of it. I have seen too much ugliness and lies behind the facade, been through too many sessions of ‘training’ and ppt presentations with talking points. Just can’t do it anymore when I don’t even believe it a single iota. Never imagined we’d come to this… honestly, this hurts bad. All I can wish for all my ex-colleagues and friends, all the very best. There has to be a lot more to life than 几个臭钱 that this out-of-touch company can offer.

If you’re 50+ years old and a retrenched DH, you would have been earning up to $25K/mth (without AWS).
That is as good as a director’s salary in many >SME companies here!

Post ID: @5Vtln+16zEvLP3

got lah... if you 50s it's not easy to find job that pays $15k a month for individual contributor jobs, even no AWS it's still like director pay in SMEs already. but are they willing to return their 24 month package... a few hundred k leh. this clause to payback package is to prevent people from gaming the system. a few years ago in malaysia they retrenched a bunch of people, paid compensation, then one year later all got hired back. and look at KLTC, it's bo-m town now. the person who has $ in pocket got more dignity lol.. their colleagues and sups envy them. so SG study they want to prevent this.

yeap, what I heard is the package needs to be returned.
but with the damage done to the morale, regardless of whether the package needs to be returned, i really doubt people would want to turn back.

@5Vtqs+16zEvLP3 don't bluff lah. if you were recently retrenched during the SG study in march, the letter you signed in docusign would have stated clearly that if you join back to EM you will have to pay back your retrenchment package

I heard SG management is looking at re-hiring those that they have retrenched, due to unexpected attrition rate happening.
Is that true?

retrenched personnel here.
Not that I want to return now that I'm free and happy.
But just thought it is like a slap on their own face.

My parents bought a FH condo in D10 CCR for >10 OCR for <$2M.
It will probably be worth less than $2M when <70 years of its LH is left in 30+ years time :(
Such a lousy deal we have now.

The old guard had already enjoyed their deserved perks from high(er) salaries - translated to owned material assets like landed property, country club membership, interest-free car loans, pension vesting, and for some more-deserving few, even EM stock options.
Something the new birds will find elusive, unattainable even - especially now that they have been told to remain as engineers, in their current jobs, for at least 5+ years!!
A really lousy deal, IMHO
So ….. who has the last laugh?

Army general without soldiers can’t fight the war to protect their empire. Therefore, brainwashing troopers to stay now. We will have to sacrifice for their status, high salary, comfort.

This is real world. If we need to stay united. Nobody will suffer from unfair treatment from the beginning. Don’t missed out the actual motive behind every brainwash sessions.

Those chanting “We are ExxonMobil” likely are those ever benefited from the bias system or buying time until their CPF withdrawal age and let the young ones fight for their survivor or wanted to continue taking higher pay check until times up or maybe truly want to help the company go through this tough time?

Having read all these comments, I feel that EM culture of proclaiming best of the Best all these years has led to a bunch of self entitled and arrogant staff. Sudden loss of a safe haven left all these monkeys ranting. All claim to be hardworking and deserve to be promoted. Hope you have in mind this is the real world. No one really owns EM....

Ranting here does not spare you from the sword when your time is up... get your a-s off and work diligently. Don't cling on to the rope while voicing your displeasure. Leave for your "greener" pasture if you think so highly of yourself.

We are ExxonMobil
We are ExxonMobil
We are ExxonMobil

Problem solved. Having great culture is the key to strong performance, according to the senior managers. Expect to see more we are ExxonMobil activities in the coming months. Believe that will lift your spirits and make you forget your friends are leaving or have left, while your own salaries stagnant.

BUT… if you are truly unhappy here, why don’t you quit? Because you know you can’t find a better alternatives. That’s why attrition has been manageable. A lot of you are paid more than the market rate and frankly, there’s nothing better out there for you. So, just buckle up, clear your throats and shout together with your managers, we are ExxonMobil

Laying off or reclassifying supervisors to be technicians is reasonable in my view. This allows budget to be rightly allocated. Organization needs to purge out these leeches to save worker bees.

Those pioneer batch of supervisors all have higher salary (above market rate), fully paid HDB/private condo/JB property (some bought SG landed due to booming O&G era), driving cars, eaten many hotel buffers, business trips in business class flight WHILE the younger generation need to work their a-s out to help company pay off the debt and accumulate cash. In addition, all they do is to delegate tasks (downwards to technicians or sideways to engineers) and collect status for reporting.

Younger generation supervisors are no better. Those good ones remain as anchor for their reporting organization. Those promoted ones are usually those with connections/play dirty/lucky fellows. True or not, leave it to you to judge.

I would advise young poly grad to work elsewhere. Don’t waste your time here anymore (company need to pay off debt/put money on better investment than paying you first). Think about it yourself.

What we see today, is telling us company do not treat employee as an asset and we are expendable at any time (what happen if you at 40s to 50s but haven’t fully pay your 4 bedroom HDB unit?).

“young families are already financially impacted with the salary freeze and no promotion.”
It is very true especially for young fresh-grad technicians from POLY, entry technician salary is only around SGD 1,700 whereas my friend in semicon starting pay from SGD 2,300. Without OT and increments in EM, I will be doing food delivery soon… what is the point of working in hazardous environment??
My senior’s one day OT on Sunday is already half of my monthly pay + additional step up allowance.
The package is so much different for old timers and younger folks. I’m not jealous but i’m not happy so resign lor.

How to improve employee morale when the ship is already sinking with unabated resignation and early (forced) retirements?
Shouting “We Are EM” slogans and relating uplifting stories about it won’t do nothing, if our workload continues to pile up (while remuneration stagnates) and we are led by very young and incompetent supervisors.
Giving (dried) fruit baskets and “well done” cards won’t cut butter, when young families are already financially impacted with the salary freeze and no promotion - with an expectation that you will remain in your job (hentak kaki) for the next 5-7 years.
You then begin to compare with your school mates and peers, whose careers are progressing well elsewhere, with nary a fear or worry that each year and every year, you may still be removed from your job (as in EM). That’s UNCERTAINTY to the power of e !!

The plan to improve morale is to have more We Are ExxonMobil stories! Expect to hear more inspiring stories of how we are embedding of we are ExxonMobil culture into the organization by your managers. This should help you stop complaining. By the way, if the Singapore government is not helping the local workforce, why should any one do that?

It is just whether you are the chosen 1 or not. Many people quit because they were not chosen to take on the role that they wanted. This is similar to ranking. You are where you are because someone else was chosen to be ranked above you. It doesn't mean you did any worse than him. You are just not chosen.
