Same... just wish that EM can let me go and give me the 1 yr 1 mth severance package... totally no motivation working in this company. And I really pity the juniors who just joined and get pay freeze.

Wah lucky I am coming close to retirement age.
So frankly I don’t care any more about getting c r a p p y, or zero increments.
Just give me my base salary and medical benefits and I will continue to work without questions asked.
When it’s time to go, then it’s time to go.
No need to crack my head about a sustainable livelihood (I already have millions in assets and savings accumulated over the years), unlike the strawberry generation complainers. Hehe!

Don’t worry.
All PIPs this year will pass one - unless you opt for PIL.
I give you my word.
I just got PIPed, be ready guys 2021 and it continues
Guess you must be prepared for cr---y increments for the next few years at minimum. I can’t see how the corporation will be able to pay for talents when they are cutting down on costs left right center. This is despite minimal biz trips. So youngsters must be clear why you are staying.
Leaders failed to motivate ppl and bring best value out of employees rather spend countless time rank ppl , the whole pool is just so so so what to rank and select top talent as future hi po, there is no visionary leader in top management, no extraordinary ppl in this corp, even may have a few but soon will be cultivated to be all are part of rigid cumbersome systems, which is proud of by managers, what a joke. The pipeline is not great, so 10yrs,20yrs from now who lead this place, the current sls, btl, DH. Are they extraordinarily people ? Some even don’t understand the process, the machine, the logistics, the business well, don’t know how to handle crisis like this. Just purely manage not lead, such situations is self destructive, and downward spiral, take for example, today the hot topic CCS will not become a revenue source in 10, 20, 30 years, it just brain washing newbies to stay on this will change the world, get some fund investments, really economic viable ? because no matter what need some minimum ppl to run a company. And every attrition is a cost to company, poorly HR professionals and managers in here didn’t realise this. On the surface may save some salary but loss some good ppl with good knowledge that may never come back, hope when things badly happen they could realise the mistake they made. Don’t seem to be bright future but it won’t die though, but you have to way in if u wanna spend your most valuable years here, by the time u pass 40, what it will look like, plant get older, getting new set of asset heavy crisp to manage, any new thing? ccs/really? Sound Exciting? not so much…

This only reinforces the fact of weak leadership. We have a “lallang” Mgmt style. Bend and swing in the direction of the wind. Myopia , deficiency in clear vision. Its clear this is a sinking ship. Why ? Bec the critical Differentiator ( people) of this company from competition has been destroyed . Best of all, it’s an act of self destruction . D-mb W chooses shareholders over stakeholders (employees) . It’s clear why such short term over long term interest - self serving . Old guards being retired or made to go, young will choose to leave . Who will join? Who are the pple willing to remain behind to go down with this sinking titanic ? Who are willing to be the musicians to remain on board to play the last swan song before perishing with the ship? If not for the reason of no better option who will? I am thankful , I left already in a life boat recently. But felt sad for those that I call friends that still stuck in the ship….
@5Xrdl+16zEvLP3
You look at the people in Training - mostly all “Lobo” and “PES C” (to use SAF terminology) ex-OSs and ex-SSs, who cannot perform field operations!
This is to guarantee a job for them till retirement?
@5Yzbv+16zEvLP3
Agree.
PE section heads must have fulfilled a stint as PE contact / or process design engineers before, prior to being considered for promotion to a PE SLS.
With no process engineering experience / background whatsoever, it would be very difficult and challenging for him to understand the real world, underlying process-related issues and probable root causes of the problem - in order to be effective in providing timely intervention, oversight, guidance, steering, coaching and overall leadership.
I am glad to note that, at least for the Process BTLs, most if not all, were from PE before - and very good ones at that too 👍🏼
Promote a non-PE to a PE SLS, but he cannot even perform effectively - then what’s the point?
Not able to lead, nor coach fresh PEs.
Blind leading the blind!
The whole section will go into a tail spin !!!
too many folks (with past roles in non-technical roles) promoted to technical leadership roles. Not sure what's the thought behind that.
(granted there are a few high calibre personnel who are able to really pick up fast and lead properly)
well, if this is what EM wants, so be it.
RL are paid more than SMTEs. What a shame
What is PE?
Is the RL role similar to a LPS Core team lead?
Both also can become PE SLS, after a leap-frog job!
best is that after RL, you can become SLS. Even if you do not have PE experience, you can still be their SLS after your RL role.
But we have to admit the talent in PR and manoeuvre situation to gain advantages for oneself in expense of others. We had seen a few real life examples like in digital manufacturing team/lead/champion
Who doesn’t want to be in RL role??? You just need to know wh… words to ask questions and your CL is same with SLS. Nothing to hold accountability and prerequisite training is Reliability workshop for one day. You don’t even need any strong technical knowledge.
Haha, beside RL and MOC. Another redundant were the training department. What to train? SLS / DH also don't know how to train the people. New technician also on-the -job training, after years of working, your skill also out of date when compare to outside market.
On top of RLs, Other redundant roles that I can think of are operational integrity and MOC coordinator roles.
Do we really need to pay more than 100k p.a. to get someone to chase people to close out their MOC items?
Singapore study was just announced less than half a year ago with 300 employees retrenched and now exxon is trying to hire engineers to plug the unexpected level of attrition. For such a huge company that is supposedly among the best in the industry, the shortsightedness is astounding. You still have delusional management coming out to double down and say that they will do the whole study again if they have a choice. Well , try telling that to the 300 employees who got layoffed. I remembered in 2019 that the company announced that it aims to double its earning in 2025. What a joke , luckily I am out of this shithole and onto greener pasture.
It appears that the RL role is disliked by many in Manufacturing. Hmmm ….. I wonder why?
Good for nothing bunch of clowns they are huh? Getting paid for doing little.
Who are these people?
I don’t come into contact with such roles in my current job.
Must be a newly-designated job role.
In SSM, or ES ah?
16 bunches of Reliability Leader and 2 DH really driving NO Business value at all… can help to save about $4.5M/yr! Creating so many work for us, during meeting just repeating what people say and keep echo and recycle the same motherhood statement. Just PIP them all and our Business will run as usual without them!
@5Wimx+16zEvLP3
You are full of BS and are probably a troll to stir sh!t here.
Based on your CL and YEE, what you claim is way outside HR’s remuneration envelope - even if you are in >80 RGP !!!
Don’t come here an bluff lah 👎🏼
@5Wimx+16zEvLP3 BS lah troll. Doubt anyone will be that stupid to pass on that.
EM is filled with managers who look after their own KPI’s. There is no desire to look out for value from the marketplace. As long as your KPI’s look good (very internal metric), who the fxxx cares about losing value to competition. I am CL29, I make $400+ all in, and I have lost faith in management and the co. Just tendered my resignation without a job… my values and integrity are more important than just $. Sure, many will say I’m an old fa-t and can just go off into the sunset blah blah blah… but I’m not 50 yet… there’s a lot more I think I can contribute to an enterprise and to society etc… just don’t think the EM today is one I can live with for the rest of my career, whatever is left of it. I have seen too much ugliness and lies behind the facade, been through too many sessions of ‘training’ and ppt presentations with talking points. Just can’t do it anymore when I don’t even believe it a single iota. Never imagined we’d come to this… honestly, this hurts bad. All I can wish for all my ex-colleagues and friends, all the very best. There has to be a lot more to life than 几个臭钱 that this out-of-touch company can offer.
@5Vczq+16zEvLP3
If you’re 50+ years old and a retrenched DH, you would have been earning up to $25K/mth (without AWS).
That is as good as a director’s salary in many >SME companies here!
got lah... if you 50s it's not easy to find job that pays $15k a month for individual contributor jobs, even no AWS it's still like director pay in SMEs already. but are they willing to return their 24 month package... a few hundred k leh. this clause to payback package is to prevent people from gaming the system. a few years ago in malaysia they retrenched a bunch of people, paid compensation, then one year later all got hired back. and look at KLTC, it's bo-m town now. the person who has $ in pocket got more dignity lol.. their colleagues and sups envy them. so SG study they want to prevent this.
yeap, what I heard is the package needs to be returned.
but with the damage done to the morale, regardless of whether the package needs to be returned, i really doubt people would want to turn back.
@5Vhpf+16zEvLP3 Begging for a job. LOL!
Retrenched PIP asked to leave dirty tricks on trained experienced employees
Now panic start re-hiring
If old staff cannot stand the bu-----t nonsense what abt those new hires
New hires dont give a damn lah they go if cannot stand the bu-----t nonsense
They got nothing to lose
So better appreciate your employees
Anyway hope its my turn next to be retrenched lah
Cheers
Kena retrench already, means retrenched lah.
Accept it lor!
Why keep looking back?
Gian png si boh?
@5Vtqs+16zEvLP3 don't bluff lah. if you were recently retrenched during the SG study in march, the letter you signed in docusign would have stated clearly that if you join back to EM you will have to pay back your retrenchment package
I heard SG management is looking at re-hiring those that they have retrenched, due to unexpected attrition rate happening.
Is that true?
retrenched personnel here.
Not that I want to return now that I'm free and happy.
But just thought it is like a slap on their own face.
Siao boh pay this kind of money for condo. U think sg glory days can last how long? The property floor cant keep rising u know. I mostly do equities and flipped 8x recently. Property cant even do 2x in 10 years. I wanna buy also buy freehold land overseas la.
Everyone who indulges into private properties in recent years also needs to fork out this kind of money what...... cannot compare lah....consider yoursef lucky to manage to make the down payment. Well, if u are commiting instalment more than 20% of your gross per month. Wish you well.
Kpkb to your parents for their lack of foresight as now you lament your management lor.... 😅
My parents bought a FH condo in D10 CCR for >10 OCR for <$2M.
It will probably be worth less than $2M when <70 years of its LH is left in 30+ years time :(
Such a lousy deal we have now.
No capital appreciation wave to ride on 👎🏼
Of course must KPKB lah!
Your parents bought their 5 room hdb below 100k. You buy your house at 300k onwards. You kbkb?. Sick bunch of kids
The old guard had already enjoyed their deserved perks from high(er) salaries - translated to owned material assets like landed property, country club membership, interest-free car loans, pension vesting, and for some more-deserving few, even EM stock options.
Something the new birds will find elusive, unattainable even - especially now that they have been told to remain as engineers, in their current jobs, for at least 5+ years!!
A really lousy deal, IMHO
So ….. who has the last laugh?
Buahahahahaha !!!!!
