Vacation Change?

Been hearing talks about changing vacation policy starting next year. Everyone no matter how many years of tenure will accrue at the same rate as the new hires.

I don’t think they can do this as. I am going to HR to ask for a copy for the older policies that were in place when I started working in 1993.

I am an HR major and my legal and HR professors both told me and they were legally not allowed to take away what we acrrued/earned last year. We should have all had weeks accrued at the beginning of the year.

They told us they were planning to do this last year. But please go complain you are losing hours of PTO while others have lost their jobs. Good luck!

Yes they can change it. You do not have a union which would include a contract. You are employed at will which means the company can change anything. They are not required to even offer vacation.

This change was announced and part of the presentations before last year. It was not really widely talked about due to the amount of people it would change for but yea...

Essentially its another long term bonus removed for actually being loyal over 15+ years

This is definitely true. Look at Seaport your accrual rate it changes 1/1. Look at the policy in the new handbook. Everyone will get knocked down to the 10 year mark max. You will lose 1/2 of your time if you have been here 20 + years.

There several levels of accrual based on years of service. The max you can accrue is at 10 years of service. 10 hours worked = 1 hour PTO. With a max of 206 hours.

The company can’t take away something we earned. It would be impossible to replace us. If this happened, I would walk away and let’s see how many people would be Inline to do my job. The company owes us as we do a lot for them. I call this rumor false. SeaWorld can’t do such a thing.

The settlement was for salaried, not just management, around pension. It was based on the sale agreement with InBev regarding separation from AB-InBev within a certain time period.

Keep in mind that everyone that was in management during AB got a settlement of thousands of dollars a few years ago. So maybe we have a case of grandfathered rules for us that have been with AB in the past.

I hear a lot of things but usually they are false. This will probably be false as well.

Do you expect them to honor the policy from 1993 or something? I don’t think it works that way

You don’t have an employment contract with Seaworld. So, yes they legally can change the accrual policy. If you were in a union, they would have to negotiate that change.

YOU ALL NEED TO FORM AND JOIN A UNION.

Well that should thin the herd. Mass walkouts in the future?? Sure. Why not? That place is garbage.
