Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Anyone get a 20% reduction in pay "offer" yet?

When are those letters supposed to go out? Has anyone received one yet?

If someone has lots of PTO. Can she/he do this 20% thing using PTOs and not pay cut e.g. if you have more than 26 PTOs (many may have), can you take1 PTO every week for 6 months and be good.

No. PTO is a liability for Cisco. That's why they have the "year end shutdown" in the US and Canada to force all the US/Canada employees to burn a week's PTO every year. Other countries laws prevent Cisco from mandating PTO, but it's "highly encouraged" for them to take it, whatever that means.

If you're burning PTO one day per week to get a 100% paycheck each week, how is that reducing Cisco's operational expenses (OpEx)? The whole point of getting people to work a reduced work week is to pay them less and reduce wages (OpEx) by 20%.

Unfortunately, other than my gas bill going down due to lack of commuting back and forth to work, none of my other bills have gone down and many have gone up (buying masks, increasing grocery costs and higher restaurant prices) have offset my decreased spending on gas, so I can't really afford to take 20% less in income. Not unless I want to find some part time job that I work 3 days a week and now I'm suddenly working 7 days a week with no rest causing me to burn out faster.

No, you keep benefits, but some aspects of your compensation will be pro-rated. For example, annual leave, etc.

Does it offer any insight that you will no longer be a FTE and that you will not have FTE benefits? They say it is a reduction to 4 day @ 8-hours per day. They will change it to 7.75 hours per day giving you a total of 31 hours for the week. Then, they don't have to give you any FTE benefits. It will be the same as working at McDonalds.
