Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

Union isn't the answer

Unions are worthless in this day and age. They worked in the past cause gangsters ran them. Disney union employees still furloughed so that helped them alot. We should also feel sorry for SR he has lost millions of his clients money and they are not happy. The company is reinventing itself and trying to be profitable. Current problem is lack of employees we can't hire and train fast enough. Check the job board many many open jobs. Good luck.

A union would make SeaWorld hire back it’s furloughed employees BEFORE hiring out for new cheaper employees!

HMS host team members are protesting their company furloughing them and hiring other people. Why don’t we choose a date and time and protest. What do we have to loose? SW is not going to bring us or give us a re hire status.

The original post is a joke on so many levels. First, with a union the terms of a furlough are negotiated. Before a furlough can begin, a worker knows whether they have benefits, if seniority will count when being brought back, if vacation time can be used until unemployment begins, and on and on and on.

As far as SR, have you seen the stock market? It is up not down. They are making money off their investments because they are diversified.

The loser here, as usual, is the frontline employee. The one making 12 an hour. The one living check to check. Unions are the only protection they have.

Oh hey another "unions aren't the answer" post! How unique! How helpful! Let me take the "hey, sorry I cant pay you for the medical care I need but the guy who was running my last company into the ground lost millions so maybe you'll just spot me the care?" comments into my doctors office and see if they go with that?

Yes Disney still furloughed union employees but they also had benefits and such thanks to the union. Something we at the very least should have been guaranteed. We were given days notice to be told we were getting left hanging with nothing. There are MANY employees that are still furloughed that could easily help this company but they are choosing to stay on a skeleton crew and as far as open jobs go, we were told that hey, they had everyone they needed - (recent seaport post) so its highly unlikely they would ever let any of us apply for open jobs.

Take your brown-nosing/corporate sh– out of here.
