Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Today talk with asset class directors

What was the point? All I heard was BS. Just repeating same buzz words with no clear path forward, is the BS ing the pass forward to get promotion? It was total waste of time to listen to those clowns!

President Steve Green and VP Dave Payne are Unocal.

What Unocal? There is nobody left from Unocal. They all capable people but Chevron got rid of them one by one. Why keep good people when you have so many mo–ns around looking like they know what they're doing?

This reorg scheme and template was borrowed from Unocal of the old. In the end, guess what happed to Unocal? This also tells you that the remnants of Unocal are in charge of Chevron affairs- I saw it in Unocal and trying to apply my experience now in Chevron while the musical chair is still open.
Good luck everyone.

Such a pity that the speech wasn't custom made to your liking. Nothing prevents you from taking a hike my friend.

Sounds like someone’s jealous that they weren’t picked to lead... Seriously, those AC Directors are SMEs, listened to and respected members of their fields. They are also really good people trying to make the best of a c-appy situation that most of the BUs are in. Give them a chance to do the work, and THEN lay judgment.

Sadly Sham Wow Vince is exactly who JJ and JG would promote for an MCP

In the CVX game of musical chairs, those who already have their chair can speak musically to those who don't. In the meanwhile, keep circling until the music stops.

In any reorg, there are winners and losers. You were listening to the winners. That's all.

What I gathered from the AC Directors call:
The solution is a creating high paying “Director” position.
The problem has yet to be determined.

If we look externally, the “Sham Wow” guy might be a good fit.

I can’t imagine a less competent group of bozos than the classless A– Directors.

Its is often strange listening to the dialogue. Its feels like a sales pitch from someone hoping that the customer buys their product. People in leadership should stop trying to convince employees of things. Instead just inform employees how things are going to be. Usually the ever-so-careful, yet calculated phrasing and the practiced warm tones come across as disingenuous. There are many intelligent people among the ranks who are neither fooled nor impressed. Say what you have to say clearly, directly and plainly. Tell the employees how things are going to be without the fluff. I think many would respect leadership more if they just cut to the chase and laid it all out.
