Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Get a life......better yet get a job!

I find that most people on here were laid off already and just want to talk bad against the company that paid them for their time. Its called capitalism. Most of you who went to school on America should know about this. Put in your time and company will pay you for it. You have the freedom to move on any chance you get just like they have the freedom to fire or lay you off whenever they choose. To talk bad about a company that you worked for was YOUR decision. To blame them is like blaming the sun for your sun burn. Take responsibility, stop being a b–ch, and get another job. Think Churchill said that!

You best believe the years of service in the field I’m drawing out unemployment till the 26th week. Halliburton gets no break or love in my house.

People on this site are angry, hopeless, and frustrated just because they lost their job because of no fault of their own. They were not poor performer, many of them are very competent and did good work throughout their time at HAL, some of them do not know anything but oil field. They started their career with big red and worked 20 + years but could not get to the finish line. some of them are cancer survivors and kids in college. They don't know anything but Halliburton.

Let them vent here! you chill as you are still getting your pay check. Hope this virus will go away someday and we all will find work again. Peace brother!

I’m not b–ching at the victims, sorry if it seems I came out that way. I’m b–ching at the people who are playing victims. If your on this website just to gain sympathy and talk sh– about the company that ones paid your mortgage then your playing the victim.

1 million + filling for first time unemployment every week. Forget about finding a job in this market. $600 extra / week was a blessing if you ask me. Stop 🛑 b–ching at the victims of the situation during this unfortunate time! Remember, you may be there one day...

Your right. Its global warming, hurricans, epidemics and people you see on TV making your decisions for you are the reason you are in this position. Nothing you can't control yourself. Just a bag blowing in the wind........

The part when I was laid off in the 80's and lived in my truck looking for work. Not crying like a little b–ch on some website!

When I started men were made of iron and dericks made of wood. Maybe this downturn will vent out all the little b–ches who claimed to work in the oil industry out and we, who put in a solid 12 minimum, take back the pride of what it once was!

Could not agree more with the OP. A lot of folks believe the world goes around them and are entitled to everything. Rather than understanding that the new world is a global economy that requires everyone to work together to be successful, these folks like to divide, complain, point fingers at everything other than themselves, and moan.

@1ktg+16sBxoBA. That's the a$$hole i was after when posting this, and everyone who liked his post. You think you got laid off because you made all that money and Halliburton couldn't afford you any more? Welcome to the real world. How much are you making now winner! not more than i am right now!

Small business w/ PPP loans? You mean any company with 500 employees or less - what a scam. I have two former co-workers who bought semi trucks and filed under PPP to pay it all back by end of this month or make payments to repay for next 30 yrs.

God bless America and the POS always playing victim and wanting everything for nothing.

This site and everyone on it are trolls or severely depressed and bitter.

100% agree with this except for the part about moving on. I already got a job but still like to come back here because it’s a safe place to trash the company. I hate Halliburton haha and am so glad I do not work there anymore

You S—!! It seems the equal right you decide to leave a giant company vs a giant company let you go. The company has accumulated overhead $$$$$$ and can survive itself for much longer time, but you individual can only survive a short time (if not another job hit smoothly), at certain point you are broken! you starting to lose everything. no choice. Who says the capitalism, if you were laid off during pandemic.. let's see what you are going to say then.

I would love to have seen someone in Millers role step up in a earnings call (like a year or 2 back when he could have done so) and tell the investors we’ve had a bad quarter and see several down quarters ahead so we focusing our efforts on keeping our key employees (not buddies), minimal layoffs and putting a “real” not lip service on service quality and dominating the industry. I bet the stock and jobs would have been in better shape and Jeff would have looked like a hero.

50 upvotes and 20 downvotes for a net positive rating of 30 for the OP. Apparently the OP has realized that they can keep clearing their browsing history and returning to the page to repeat upvotes.

Never mind the clear attempt at trolling. The best thing to do with posts like this is to ignore them.

The site is called “The Layoff,” genius. Maybe you can create your own page called ... let’s see, how about “My Salary Wasn’t Significant Enough For Corporate To Gove A Sh–?” When you’re done patting yourself on the back, I mean.

I'm neither. No one works directly under me. I graduated college and was called out to Houston to interview for a Field Engineering position and took it Knowing full well what I was getting in to. A volatile industry that pays more than most but can be swept away in a moments notice. Like most on here, this is my way of venting. I come on this website to get a idea of what is going on in the industry but all I end up seeing is a bunch of self entitled people who think the world owes them. To those that are not on here doing this I apologize. My comments are not directed toward you.

OP, you are a lucky one, you won’t understand the pain millions of people going through at the moment. Either you are a senior manager or you are highly connected. Give these people a break please... they are only here to vet their frustrations because of the current situations and it is not over. Like I said before, they will not be here once they are on their feet again. Have patience the big Red guy!

That's what's wrong with America. People don't think twice before joining the party, enjoying the drinks, the dinner, the dessert, and then, they don't wanna leave knowing fully well what they signed up for. People want to have the six-figure paychecks but not the risks that come along. You can either have a job that stays but pays like sh–, like in Europe or Japan or any developed country that is not called USA, or you have a job that makes it rain money, but doesn't offer any stability whatsoever.

Yes, completely agree. Free country, express your frustration........and move on.. months later I still see the same posts by the same people. What drives me crazy are these entitled a–holes who think a company owes them more than what they worked for. Its not a marriage, its a job. Put in your 8 and get paid. If you work more than that's your decision. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it does not. But your going to stick around this website and cry about it months later instead of doing something productive about it then its on you. Grow a pair and stop being a b–ch. Probably be better off spending your time on a GoFundMe page.

OP this is a free country and this is a lay-off site! Is in it? This is a place for them to express their feelings about their last employer. This is a tough market specially for the oil and Gas folks and it’s likely to be bad for quite sometime. The Rest of the economy is not good either besides what you hear in Faulks news! They feel betrayed and this not only true for Halliburton, go look at other lay off sites. This a reasonable behavior for someone who got laid off. They will hang around here till they find a new job and then you won’t see them Ever again. What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be working?

True. No one is special and that includes you too. Everyone is dime a dozen. That is why, why k–l yourself for the dime/12.

Empathy? If you were seeking empothy you should have applied to Siphora or Macy's. This is the oil field. Work your a– off and prove yourself. Getting on this website and crying that life is not fair is not going to help your cause in this industry.

How about all those small biz (mom and pops) that took out PPP loans to keep their employees on? They are all American and went to school here too - I am sure they knew about capitalism and decided not to screw over their employees in the midst of a pandemic.

@OP There’s no law or axiom of capitalism that says people’s livelihoods have to be sublimated at a moments notice to protect quarterly profits; it’s possible to do well while doing right by others.

With wealth comes a special responsibility to those who are less fortunate, for both principled and pragmatic reasons.
