Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Targeted Layoffs

Anyone else notice on the call when CT said, "We're going to do the LR differently this time. Instead of hitting all BUs evenly we're going to focus on the weaker ones." WTF is wrong with this guy? How'd he become CEO? Isn't this how a CEO is supposed to address every LR to avoid more LRd? What a lousy PoS.

Why would anyone be afraid of a layoff if the package just got improved?

Improved? Where did you see that? I've heard some rumors about the ER package, and even that isn't generous (except for VPs and up, who have their own ER offer).

H1 is not top talent. It is cheap little-talent. Used to suppress overall wages and to create fear in the workers (they can be replaced with a visa holder.) The H1-B program is abused and should be eliminated. Any citizen that is laid off should sue the hell out of the company if even one visa holder is retained.

What is the layoff impact to those loyal, hardworking on H1 visa employee. In the past, we don't layoff top talents. I guess that this time is the same.

Another huge over reaction by Cisco! I got cut in 2014 and then they starting recruiting me for contract roles in which I took 3! Each time I come back it gets worse. IT in India is a joke! Are these people even trained?

Sociopaths run most large corporations. We have to figure out how to survive them.

There are countless highly effective and talented people that never get past grade 10. Why? Because they aren't heartless and soulless master manipulators. The difference b/w a mid level and an executive is typically minuscule in capability. Often the execs are less capable in everything except advancement skills, which rarely are skills that help the company as a whole.

An intelligent and thoughtful leader could easily find 1 billion in opex without any layoffs (other than the necessary push out of low performers)

Why would anyone be afraid of a layoff if the package just got improved? I feel like managers are going to start under the radar asking for volunteers and they are going to get too many. Didn't the LR group from February get 8 months of severance when it was all done?

The fear of layoffs will drive more people out without a compensation package which was the intent . for every handful who take the package, one or two others will bail with none

Our CEO is a sociopath, certainly not a leader. Stop the constant layoffs.
