Unfortunately it is the case. The Indian culture is influencing Cisco engineering department this day. They love to give the high profile projects to their friends and ask other top engineers to support them. Such that their mediocre friends can get promoted to PE or even DE. No wonder top engineers are leaving Cisco. This kind of environment won't create innovation and only create lousy products. Therefore, those top talents left and join the startup to compete with Cisco. Like PaloAto networks, Arista, Zoom, etc. One shop solution model may not last very long because many solutions are too expensive, fragile and not very reliable.
Jasper is dead, I don't think we could even sell it. But if there is even a moderately interested buyer, we'd unload it.
XR Routing is going
AppD is going
Viptela is going
Brits understand the Indians due the Caste system they are born with. Americans don't get it. This is why the higher up is seen as god and middle level managers who know the problems refuse to make a sound in a meeting. They learned early on, you are a yes man/woman. You don't make waves. If you open your mouth the problem you mention sticks to you and becomes your problem to fix. So they remain silent. It isn't that they don't have ideas, they won't act on them. When the boat gets too top heavy and the managers reporting to directors reporting to VP meet day after day discussing same issues in circles...they jump ship. At least the smart ones do.
would explain a lot. Probably a selloff to an Oracle or IBM type vendor that needs some gap fillers
Too bad there's so much racist comments towards Indians. Im American and have never had one issue with an Indian ever. Be respectful. As far as Cisco goes it's the worst job Ive ever had. My boss takes my work and s—s up. I am under utilized and this is a dud job. Not for talented, strategic thinkers but for group think tactical egotistical folks who will eventually be here writing what I am.
my guess: jasper
Typical, keep rearranging the deck chairs but unwilling to fix long term underlying problems
Reorg & repackage
My guess:
Webex (Collab BU holding it back from innovation)
AppD (doesn't fit in any BU, buyers remorse)
UCS (margins are bad, no emphasis on product anymore)
- - perhaps Hyperflex goes with it.
that makes sense.. my experience is that each BU is its own castle and fight each other.. when I was with Cisco for 18+ years, one of the thread is that each BU and each manager has own accountants, it is so true.. our director has a business manager that actually is an accountant, each director supposed to survive on its own.. you end up with a severe competitive environment until India director arrives..
the Indian director plays the book unlike the traditional Americans.. hires his relatives and somehow mingle like bangolore movies with other directors and survive together..
some of the traditional Americans gradually learns to play the same game, entire castle system goes down.. and Cisco is rotten in and out.
