I knew at the 100 Year celebration in Carrollton that the "Fat Lady Had Sung". You could just tell by the way they patronized Otis Employees. It just didn't make sense for them to bring up Otis at that event on that day at the Carrollton facility. They were making a mockery of us. They knew they were going to do away with Otis people once and for all. How many Otis employees are currently employed by Hal? The very very few that are still there that stayed and didn't quit are the low life's of Otis and Hal knows it. Sucking on the almighty 'T-T' They have been excommunicated and don't even know it. They have no one to turn to and say "Remember in the Otis days?" They are dead to us. RIP.

Beautiful attitude toward workers during the glory days of Otis that just seemed to fade a bit with the H. buyout. My exit some years ago allowed me to see with better clarity what would probably become reality with the eventual transition to other energy sources. There was always the threat of layoffs for lesser skilled machinists as years past by, and it always made me wonder how cheaper labor regions in the world didn't draw H. Carrollton into shuttering sooner were it not for their tremendous investment in their remarkable facillity for manufacturing. For people to lose income during this horrendous pandemic is just an additional curse that Americans are already suffering from. This new era we're entering will be a hammer blow for most of the nation, and hopefully a recovery that will allow us to better meet the future with its evolving economics.

Someone from Carrollton was bashing Singapore on these boards about a year back. He would constantly belittle the engineers in Singapore and claim how great the engineers were in Carrollton. Karma is a sandbitch sometimes!

I work at a large, (4 shops in Texas and 1 in China), precision sheet metal and machine shop next to the plant. I wondered why the middle test drill rig was taken apart. I was lucky and able to see the torches and cranes talking it apart.
Dang shame that the plant closed and Many people lost their jobs during the pandemic

The quality of work in Carrolton is very low. No wonder is being shut down. Come to Singapore - very high quality work - no wonder it's expanding.

Boy, that 4 Billion dollars Jeff Miller and David "Boso" Lesar gave Baker in that id–tic failed merger sure would have saved a lot of jobs and facilities from closing down. Why have we paid this A-clown 200 million just to bend us all over and shove us out the door?

I am retired but this news is so disturbing.
I’m sure the higher ups will get a huge bonus while the employees get nothing. They are not even thinking how many lives have been effective.

It was once a great company but the younger ones came in and would tell you anything to think you were doing a great job. It was sooooo too heavy with those getting huge checks to the ones actually doing the work.
Upper management was always in meetings that you never saw them or you could never stop them long enough.

Let me dismiss misinformation about severance payments. There is NO contribution to 401K. Severance is a lump sum payment of weekly regular payroll mulitplied by number of weeks the employee is eligible to receive. The payment is considered Supplemental wages; hence, the withholding is as per the Supplemental income federal withholding rate; about 22%.

Business Leaders made a decision to downsize the business and offshore what they can to enhance profits. That, unfortunately, is how corporate America works.

Shame on all of us for believing Halliburton's false ideals of goals an employee could reach for; e.g., work 35 years and receive a Rolex watch for your loyalty and committment to the Company. Unfortunately, there is no committment by Halliburton to deliver on those ideals; moreover, they are a Texas-based company and have the right to sever employment with a two week notice. You will receive payment in lieu of the two week notice. Just more money in your pocket.

One last thing you should be aware of: Severance payments make Texas Workforce Commission Unemployment benefits for the period the severance payment is applicable. For example: Receive 13 weeks of severance and you are ineligible for Unemployment Benefits for the period those 13 weeks run. So, while your HR person will advise you to file for unemployment benefits asap - you will not receive payments from TWC; and if you do - you MUST pay it back. If you are unemployed after the 13 weeks of severance has run - then you can apply for TWC Unemployment claims.

Company founder
Erle P. Halliburton employed by the Perkins in California in 1916 He was soon dismissed from that company, supposedly for changing procedures without authorization. found his way to Burkburnett, Texas, where oil was discovered in 1918. The following year he formed the New Method Oil Well Cementing. HOWCO and offered its services to drillers. In 1920 It established a presence on the West Coast in 1940 by purchasing Perkins Oil Well Cementing, the company where Erle Halliburton had once worked.
In 1949 the company acquired an exclusive license to practice hydraulic fracturing,
In 1959 acquired Otis Engineering, another company active in oil-field equipment and services.
In July 1993, Halliburton MERGED with Otis Engineering, into a single group called Halliburton Energy Services.
Halliburton relocated its headquarters from Dallas to Houston in 2003
Four years later 2007 David J. Lesar, chairman and CEO, moved his office to Dubai, (UAE)

I worked at Carrollton plant years ago. Got tired of their c-ap and left. They went through so many college educated id–ts. They once brought in a lady with a degree in journalism...to run QC. Spent most of the time in meetings and trying not to get hurt. Miracle anything got done. They somehow made a ton of money and blew it on the dumbest c-ap.

Watch out on your final severance check. The friggin A-Holes take out taxes as if you make that huge sum every paycheck so you are being overtaxed, they also are taking a huge amount for a final 401k contribution. Why would I want to make a 401k contribution to an account that is getting closed out because I got laid off. Also, they charge you for the remainder of your health insurance. Basically prepare for your final severance check to be short 30% or so, several thousand dollars. What a joke.

I was hired at Otis in 1956 at Lovefield Manufacturing Shop as a machine apprentice. Mr. Otis would weekly go to visit with us in the evenings. He was a caring, friendly owner. He was on top of everything and was very knowledgeable about instillation of oil well production tools. When Halabertan took over the employees were disappointed. While Otis owned the company I was advanced to remote manufacturing. I was sent to various states to set up shops. When Halliburton took over I was sent to Mexico,Singapore and Venezuela to set up shops too. In 1994 I was given a choice to take a severance package but I was not ready for retirement. I took their offer.

“All that money spent on test cell update and assembly DMS Did not last long o..well..”

When we have to pay $1000/day to use a test cell and $250/ hr for a technician (which is the cost allotment to keep the facility running) then that system is bound to be unsustainable...

How very sad!!! It started going down hill
A while back! I worked for Otis Engineering
Which was awesome then Halliburton.
They started getting in younger management which didn’t care about you but their own pockets. We had wonderful employees that wanted to make a difference. I’m so sorry to hear this. All the wasted money remodeling was truly a waste!
