CFO resigns

Seems like the CFO Dhivya is leaving for "other opportunities".

Looks like she could not handle the big job of CFO at a big company and so she has departed to take the job of CFO at a much smaller company. EIther way I think GM came out worse in this. I agree she was basically a diversity hire.

Watch, Pontiacs global propulsion buildings reopen.
There was absolutely no need to fire so many people, then close Pontiac and move people to Warren.
Now because of covid and distance, now would be a good time to reopen Pontiac and spread folks out, use the space GM don't waste it. Reopen Powertrain and let folks get back to work.

I guess she is afraid to be cut in next round. When I joined GM, my manger At my previous Company told me that GM culture is to cut people periodically - every 4-8 years. It obviously is proven to be true.

110% GMs fault.

As everyone that works at GM knows, diversity candidates have a shelf life with little loyalty. GMTCI proved this as we had to train them, and as they learned, they bailed. Rise, repeat.

Why was it a surprised that the CFO did the same?

One of the best news I heard in months. That lady is a snake! so many talented people were let go because of her.

Token hires will always leave.

If I was a Stripe employee, I would certainly be getting my resume polished up.

I saw a guy come in who truly was good. Sharp, well qualified and truly knowledgeable. After a few months of frustration, he left. In parting, he stated that decisions aren’t made at GM to help the company. but to make the individual look good.

Yeah before most of us got let go very late 2018/early 2019, the company ranted and raved about her and all this propaganda about her. Great return of investment.

When I was there, there was this other young guy I saw come in - He was decent, not the greatest ever, but there was something about him they liked and I swear they put him on the fast path, new promotions every few months while most of my contemporaries remained stationary. Yup he flew the coop too to do something else for another company. I got shown the door Feb 2019. More greatness from GM LOL!

After this announcement, GM stock jumped more than others in the segment. Early signs are that we’ll be better off now.

No, she wasn’t a hatchet man. MTB described her as a “transformational leader”. So that should tell all employees what MTB thinks of them. Wonder if the new CFO will follow in her footsteps and do another round of firings?

Comes in long enough to eliminate thousands of jobs and then skates. Isn’t there a name for that? Hatchet man?
