Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Non covid-19 related layoffs at Walmart

So here's the question I have there are many companies that are doing layoffs but they are primarily related to covid-19. Walmart is laying off people in a pandemic while they're sales are absolutely through the roof because people for a while they're only had Walmart and Lowe's to shop at and yet they still are laying off people in the middle of a pandemic with high unemployment currently. Walmart does this to people every two years it seems like they have special teams multiple teams to handle the transition of being laid off or,displaced as an employee of Walmart. They could have waited to do this until after the pandemic was over and the unemployment rate in the United States of America weren't so damn High instead they do it in the middle of a pandemic and it's not related because their profits are through the roof and they displaced people in a time where there's not a many job offers out there. They say they're all about the people they say they're all about community service they say they're all about all of these things and helping the people this is a lie. They won't even help their own Associates their main concern is the stockholders the main stockholders. And prophets in their pocket I have nothing against the prophets in the pocket I do however have something against laying off a ton of people in the middle of a pandemic with high unemployment. Yes they did offer us a really good package but who's to say how long the pandemic is going to last they could have pushed this off a little longer. Here's one more question how come there's nothing about this in the news yes they're mentioning all kinds of companies that are laying off workers because of the of the pandemic why aren't they mentioning Walmart is laying off a bunch of workers not because of the pendant and adding to the problem in the United States right now as far as finances go for those Everyday People.

They had a headcount number they had to hit is what I heard.

This could be hearsay but I’ve heard they’re still looking for more places to cut and more ways to automate things. If you’re at home office, I would worry.

Is Walmart worse than Barnes & Noble? They're saying a lot of bad things on that page.

Some people weren't outright let go but were employed in areas like CA an NJ and offered jobs in Bentonville, AR. Who wants to move to Backwardsville...........bwahahahaha. All of this done to probably get people to move and then freeze or cut their salaries which were guaranteed for a year.
To the douchepuppy above who said, "what do you want they offered pay through Jan 31, severance and bonus." Some were just hired by Walmart and let go. Complete mismanagement..........

Hard to tell if you were sober when you posted that. Because of the virus the company will be paying those that were laid off through the end of the fiscal year. That’s SIX months of salary. And because they’ll still be on the payroll until 1/31 they will also get their bonuses. They’ll also get severance. How much more do you expect?

I wish our store was having record sales! We have been down every single day for the last 6 wks because our SM is a complete id–t!! We didn't even come close to making sales for our my share bonus. We were down 18 percent for last quarter.

There will be more layoffs coming – with the implementation of the Great Workplace program – which was post poned due to Covid. This will consolidate a lot of Manager positions, Dept Managers and CSMs – so, it is coming. Was always a part of the plan.

Started 7/29 /20 sure they're done now at least until they do it again in 2 years or until they hit the next departments that they want to align
