Has anyone received a call stating that their unpaid leave (due to school and child care closures) is being terminated and demanding a resignation or return to work by next week?

I think?? they said someone called and said they had a 2 and 5 year old and no babysitter. There is no way to tell if that was the OP or someone else..and I think people mean complaining in general. As post people post as Anonymous I find it hard to tell sometimes what or who someone is replying to.
“But like others say I too get tired of the complaints. “
My post wasn’t a complaint, it was a question. Simply looking to see if others had a similar experience. I’m not complaining about anything or asking for anyone’s help, advice or special treatment from the company.
Someone did post that they called their store or HR and said they had a 2 year old and a 5 year old at home..BBB can't "assist" with childcare or treat those with kids different then those without.Should everybody with kids get unlimited leave and their position held open? Of course not Only speaking for myself but that post rubbed me the wrong way.
"the better part of your youth"??? "My bad"? Anyone that uses my bad is STILL in their youth. I do not think anyone is crucifying anyone on here. But like others say I too get tired of the complaints. And it seems like a lot of people to not understand how big businesses work. They are not here to be your friend. They are here to make money. And thousands of employees have small children, sick parents, child care issues, elder issues etc. Big businesses cannot grant unlimited leave to go hem all. It is not just BBB..it is every large business.
Why is it that a lot of people that post here are such a$$holes???? This person just was asking if others had the same experience. And a lot of people attacked them. Why???? You know some of us have worked here a long time and in my case finding another job is going to prove to be kind of difficult because I have given the greater part of my youth to them in the hopes that some day it would be worth it..my bad...but when people post here...especially about something like what this person posted about childcare and managing it in this current crazy world....why crucify them?????? How about either answer the question offer support or say nothing. But don’t tell them the things that some have said. It’s not helpful or supportive. Why be so damn mean?
School is for education. It also enables many parents to take a job that they otherwise could not. I don’t need a babysitter, I am staying home. My leave is terminated and that’s fine. I didn’t ask for anyone’s solutions, just asked if others were having the same experience.
There are really a bunch of id–ts that post nonsense on here. Agreed it is not BBB's responsibility to watch our children, however they are doing NOTHING to assist. Mostly all other big retailers (not sure we can consider BBB a big retailer these days) are compensating employees by upping their pay that can help during this pandemic the entire world is dealing with. BBB is cutting hours AND pay and on top of it threatening termination! How is this considered OK behavior? I'm sure they are hoping associates try and take leave and/or lead up to termination so they can cut more payroll. Don't even bother trying to negotiate with HR as they are puppets that will tell you what you want to hear while setting you up for what upper execs have told them to do.
Run while there’s still jobs. This place s—s.
if you dont get paid enough to hire a sitter get a grant through DSS for a sitter/daycare
I think a lot of people forget..school is for education..not babysitting. Also ievery company let every employee take unlimited leave what would happen? Just saying..
Yes and by staying home with children whose childcare has closed due to pandemic, we are taking care of our children. The question was never “How is bbb going to take care of my children?” Simply inquiring if others are being terminated as well. I cannot go back to work yet and that won’t change anytime soon because school won’t be open, so I’ll be terminated and figure out the next steps once school is open again. 😊
Parents..it is YOUR resbonsibilty to deal with your child care. It is not BBB nor is it your coworkers. It is called personal responsibility.
That’s funny that anyone thinks this company pays us enough to hire a babysitter 😂😂
I have known we are disposable to the company, not just as employees but as people, for quite some time. I wasn’t questioning whether we are valued, just wanted to know if anyone else got the same call. Looks like others have.
When are you people going to learn that you're nothing more than an employee number to this company?! It doesn't matter how skilled, talented, best at (insert title here), wonderful human being that loves animals, etc., unless you are a MAJOR shareholder you are expendable. PERIOD! Mark Tritton is expendable! Get it now?!? I've seen this movie; it doesn't have a happy ending!!! Get something else, even if temporary, but at least you'll be out of this intense stress producing nonsense.
stop whining and hire a babysitter and go do your job jesus
I got the same call but they also told me my position is no longer full time. All full time employees are now part time employees. And it's going to effect my benefits for my family.
I received that call too. Whe. I called them to tell them I have 2 year and 5 year old at home. They told me hire a babysitter or put them in daycare. And if I don't get back to them if i coming back by next week they're taking it as a resignation?!
ThTs industry standard. And it may even be apart of the FMLA laws. Most places only allow you to be on a LOA for 120 days for things like that. FMLA is longer and can go for 6-18 months.
What state are you in?
Doesn't surprise me at all
Not yet. This is scary.
