Is anyone else having problems getting vacation days approved in mechanical? These people want us to find somebody to work it on straight time which is completely against the contract to work over 40 hrs at straight time. And they wonder why everyone is getting fmla.

No NMB case on NS.
When all of the hourly workers are gone the salary work force will step in and work for about half of their pay ,no overtime,very few days of vacation per year,they will keep the shareholders happy.
In case anyone didn't know it, NS lost at national mediation board case concerning working vacation relief at straight time when the worker is working over 8 hrs a day and 40 hrs a week. Know the facts, not what some believe the contract says.
In a word "denied"
The contract clearly states that the company shall not be burdened with time and a half pay. I think this is more than fair considering we must make the operating ratio goals. The company has shown time and time again there unfettered generosity in the past and its the least we can do for our valued shareholders.

Record profits and they want to pay straight time. Screw that. They can shove that right up where the sun dont shine
