Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Chapter leads

Reading between the lines, why am I getting the impression that all the “job owners” in the new tech center’s round 3 positions are the secretly selected new Chapter leads? I guess all will be clear Monday.

Sorry. Decisions made months ago when all the Transformation teams were set up. The only wildcard is how many non-Boomer EOIs there will be, but in all likelihood those management wants to stay were quietly offered promotions or management positions to stay.

Not entirely true. Most lateral mobility during the selection event will be driven by the number of EOIs, which is a big unknown. Chevron can’t simply lay-off high paid boomers to have money, but the more that volunteer the better for cost reduction targets. The sad fact is unless the price of oil increases dramatically in the next year we will be back in another reduction before you even get time to settle in to your new role.

Yes I think the whole “all jobs are open” so “apply for four jobs” exercise is just a cruel joke. Almost everything has been remapped very locally one to one so the only undecided question is if it will be you or your team mate to be let go. The new Chevron will feature those who kiss a– best. Good luck everyone.
