Thread regarding Pioneer Natural Resources Co. layoffs

It is what it is

We all know right sizing means layoffs so let’s be honest. Scott should have the balls to call it what it really is. I would respect someone for speaking plainly. So it’s downsizing people. It’s happening and this time the packages will not be as sweet.

It’s not the LCO building. It’s the new Oracles ERP that costs the company...it’s still not working as expected! The company spent hundred of millions to bring it in and still is spending millions to support it.

With a 5% growth rate target...we don’t need 50% of our employees.

If true it is a sad ending for a once incredible family oriented energy company. If the future is shale completed horizontal wells with centralized tank batteries, PNR could reduce across the board on office and field. At some point S. S. has got to be thinking on closing LCO, subletting it to someone or some company that has 5,000 employees and move the Corp back to Midland and fill up MCO. I doubt there are many people in LCO that would be willing to move to Midland and live. Most of the gray hairs are gone already, maybe some of the 20-30 years old would move the rest would role the dice on getting a job in Dallas. Awesome company was there in 97 and left in May 2019 when the gray hair package was offered. What did they say back in the 80's BUST, who is going to turn out the lights in LCO

The LCO building is k–ling us! It’s a beast of a place. Not sure but put people and jobs before ego.

The survivors will feel sad for the departed for about a couple of coffee breaks, talk about taking over their duties for maybe a week at most. Life will go on, and anyone who's been through a layoff or ten knows that. You'll probably see them some of them in the downtown tunnels at their next gig, provide them a reference if you liked them, and if you actually care, maybe invite them out to a family barbecue every now and then. At the end of the day, it's a job, not a lifetime commitment. It's not 1955.
