Learned my role is going away. I suppose I could complain and say ‘invest in your employees’ instead of outside causes. Wouldn’t change the result anyway.

Stop this nonsense of paying millions to upper management. Whole system is full of corruption, greed and jumping ship.

If true, I feel for you, but managers who let direct reports below them know early risk their own jobs, so I doubt you were told.
Me and another worker were friends with our manager outside of work and he didn't let us know early. He's a good guy and it tore him up inside to know without being able to tell us sooner.
I've heard about a lot of red badges being terminated on 7/24 which was the end of the fiscal year, but I keep hoping that the ELT keeps their word that LR's would not happen during the pandemic.
I also heard that a bunch of red badges had their accounts accidentally terminated on/after 7/24 by mistake and they're working hard to get their accesses restored. That was a fiasco, so who knows what's really happening. Time to set a reminder for the 8/12 year-end earnings call to find out. I wouldn't be surprised if an LR occurs, just surprised that it's leaking to the impacted people. I'd have expected to hear more details about #'s and package before hearing from impacted people.

Is it possible to downgrade to red badge to avoid LR?
You are far more exposed as a red badge than a blue badge. Red badge contracts are evaluated every quarter, and they will not be renewed if there’s not sufficient reason to retain them on a project with adequate funding. That process happens before moving to an LR.
Is it possible to downgrade to red badge to avoid LR? I got 2 kids in college and the family budget is quite tight especially in this pandemic situation.
