Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Easy to predict...

The layoff percentage numbers are meaningless without knowing the details. I predict most selections will be easy to predict:

1) If your job is needed and you are filling the position well you will keep it;
2) If your job is needed and you are sub-par your job owner will shop for you replacement;
3) If your job is not needed you join the vultures circulating to find positions in 2.

The said fact of these layoffs is many very good folks get left standing simply because they were sitting in the wrong chair when the music started to play.

The big week is upon us. Org chart and jobs list. I still think it’s funny looking back on my career is history repeats itself.

In 2015-2016 we went through this same thing. Then after 6 months we started hiring and bringing back contractors. That happened for the next 4 years up until Feb. then the music stopped once again. Now we are removing 1/4 of the chair.

Would why we just didn’t stay the same size as we were after the 2015-2016. We cause this issue to ourself was all managers want to have the most amount of people under them to justify PSG.

Yes that’s how it’s always been.

Also as with the AMBU layoffs if you have a 2- or 3 in the last three years start looking elsewhere now. They will lay you off even though some people were given 2- during the forced ranking times just because of the projects they had that year. With that said is you are a 2,2,2 you will not replace the equivalent if your job doesn’t exist. If you have a 2+ in there you will beat out a solid 2 if you know who they are. If you are a 1,1,1 employee your a hipot and they will find you a spot

In some respect doing EOI is helping those who want to have a job more chance because the folks who want to retire can , giving up their chair to those who want to stay on, giving that extra week per years service helps somewhat push those boomers over the threshold. I am one who is going to retire , this is just the icing on the cake, so to speak. I imagine there will be a few 1000 who will take EOI in R4

Very accurate. CVX is using the EOI to first and foremost get rid of the remaining Boomers, who are viewed as expensive and old-school (productivity does not enter into the consideration; MW just wants low-cost workers). Rnds 1 and 2 were to place the CVX “friends and family”, rnds 3 and 4 as described in the post.
