The social contract is broken. Corporate stewardship has been overcome by greed and any commitment to the rights of workers is non-existent. For those left behind please keep in mind that in the midst of a global pandemic that this leadership team took away healthcare from thousands of workers all in the name of protecting short term profits. And although I was deemed essential from day one, however when they finally decided to come get me they sent in a work from home manager who pulled me off the factory floor and walked me out for all to see. I believe the humiliation was by intent. Management has sent the message. You can and will be replaced.
Rumor has it 8,000 total employees laid off globally during this round. More rounds expected in the US later this year. As we all knew, the company was pushing as much work overseas as possible over the last few years. The pandemic only opened the door to doing it sooner. Managers who are kept on-board will only be training their replacement overseas. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.
In Chula Vista all the people over 50 are getting cut. Age discrimination at its worst. Do not sign the separation agreement without seeing an employment attorney first.
"Impacted employees were notified by their manager"
But amazing no managers got the axe? The mergers have created layers and layers of unecessary management. But the people sweating on the floor always get the shaft. Just looking at my business unit org chart right now, I could easily save the company $2 million with cuts to do-nothing middle managers.
That's another way of saying "even through Corporate say we are all in this together, in a merger of equals, Raytheon employees get their 2020 raises, but UTC employees can go take a back-seat."
