Thread regarding CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield layoffs

Where did this paperwork focus culture come from?

I don't mean this to sound hostile, but was CF IT always heavy on the amount of required paperwork to get processes in place? It comes across as if certain areas of IT are trying to stonewall others.

and think about the incompetent people leading PMO. it starts from the top. but she's a good survivor as many at CF are. not a lot of value.

PMO process is difficult be design. No one follows the PAL. Too frustrating to deal with endless committee BS and then people last second assassinate and snipe legit efforts from their perches. Keeps cost down as well as morale.

Sort of like IT people who waste millions of dollars and expect to be rewarded for it? As a business person I’m always surprised at how IT has for several years been allowed to skate. I have to beg to get people hired, but that side of the house continues to staff up on things that provide no improvement to our business. Yet I can’t get the Helpdesk to answer the phone, an IT developer to understand my project is for the business (not what IT wants so they can keep 10 people to “support it”). We have had layoffs too over the last couple of years on our side btw.

Process is all some know. “I don’t know the technical stuff so I will inundate you with things that don’t add any value.” Have you been hit with the PMO process? Talk about no value. Follow our rules, but we won’t help with any projects. It does seem like other teams in IT block others who are trying to get things done. It’s eSy to say those areas that act like that. I can name a few.

Look, it’s a bad place for CF now.

Management says:
“Be happy to have a job.”
“No one will leave, too much risk.”
“That person won’t leave, they won’t make that anywhere else.”

Anyone up for a “walk out” to protest?
