Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

The latest stupid idea

My DM just forced my store to clear everything off the top shelf in top stock.

Sounds good for about 10 seconds.

People from all over the store came to my Dept and cleared the top shelf

The moved it to 3 different depts, 12 different aisles

Now IRPs have gone past 80

IRPs are not finished till 5 or 6 pm

Can’t find/write off are three the roof

This company is ran by id–ts

Lowe’s wants all the top racks cleared for stuff on pallets. And you’re right it ends up all over the store.

We did this in my store about 3 years and had to make a map of where items are top stocked. IT worked to some degree initially but the time and effort to manually chart that become cumbersome and when our previous manager left, Our current sc-apped it immediately. We would need a bin locating system like Walmart does for their back room stock that you can quickly scan in and look up for that to have a chance to work

I have been running into HUGE inventory issues in appliances this year. For example, we just got a shipment of GE washing machines in and the system says we have 7 and I could only account for about 3. I always expect the inventory to be off but never by that amount. I just don't see how we can be missing thousands of dollars in inventory when we supposedly check the inventory on the appliance trucks vs the manifest. What makes things even more frustrating is that I always have to play detective when looking for an item because I have to check the sterling to see if the "ON HOLDS" is accurate. Which half the time they are not. Not to mention vendors not meeting their promised ETA when they know damn well they won't have it in stock for months. Companies like Samsung won't bother letting us know an item is going to be late. We just get blindsided by them until its already past its due by date and we have to call to find out what is going on only to be told that the item won't even in our ADC until late OCT.

I think someone at corporate is cooking the books with inventory. We are billing out so much stuff that never came in and no one seems concerned about it.

My store is making associates turn in car keys or drivers license to get a zebra to use.

There will never be a shortage of stupid ideas at Lowe's. We just completed what must be at least the sixth major rework in the last couple years alone of the pickup area in our stores front end. Flooring department slated to get yet another major reset when we were one of the "prototype" stores for the last flooring reset less than a year ago. When our DM last walked us we ended up putting storage totes all over the store to fill up empty bays. If your looking for either a Craftsman or Commander storage tote in our store it could be just about anywhere. Lumber department has dropped nearly all of their top stock to fill up the dozens of empty pressure treated lumber bays. I could go on but you get the point.

It’s like this across-the-board we’re missing stuff and cycling out like never before missing mass inventory something fishy going on
