The goal is to eliminate the older worker who is making too much money. The other goal is to eliminate dead wait by not offering them the new position. It is not going to work.

Will self checkout associates get raise of $15 as they worked during peak hours of COVID-19, working every day shoulder to shoulder daily at risk of of their own life! Self checkout associates should get $20 raise as they work to stop the theft and save Walmart money!!!

Been living this new way in a neighborhood market for months. Boils down to rather than working produce now we work produce meat deli dairy and frozen all in the same shift with fewer people. It’s brutal and staffing levels never match freight flow. It’s getting better because the associates are learning how to get it done but the first few months are HELL!!

And, when the good old dough boys get their pay increases, and the essential workers find out they are disposable workers, it will be too late for the working class families. Walmart top end greed is one of the driving forces behind the 2.5 trillion dollar shift in monies from the working class to the 1% which has steadily taken its toll on our economy since the late ‘70’s. It is time a labor union put them right.

Don't let this story fool you into thinking Walmart is doing something overly good. There will be a LOT of hourly employees losing their positions and forced into lower paying roles. Some will have the possibility of severance. Salary roles are being calibrated against each other for a role that may be higher paying. Those who aren't favored aren't eligible for severance and are left to fill the gaps is coverage through out a 50 mile radius. End game is Walmart is cutting payroll and covering it up as a pay raise for all employees which simply isn't true.

This is the perfect time for Walmart to shaft the employees since most of Walmart's competition is shut down especially small business due to the Coronahoax lockdown.

Everyone at my store was so happy that we were getting $15 per hour— until they actually read the press release. Only in SuperCenters and only certain jobs. Our store is not a Super Center but we almost have the sales of a Super Center. The only difference I have seen to an actual Super Center is our grocery is about half as big. We still unload two to three trucks per day and stock those shelves. How about a raise for those who do the physical labor and most of the work. In our store the leads sit around and talk and build displays and then when we come in they ask us to down stock and fix the shelves as well as unload trucks and do our normal stocking.
When our state raised the minimum wage we did not get a raise to go with the raise in minimum. We used to get $1.00-1.50 and hour over minimum. Now we all make minimum wage and the same as someone who started yesterday or who does no physical labor. Everyone of us have gone out with back, hip or shoulder problems this year because of Covid call ins and no one wants to unload trucks and do physical labor for the same wage a a cashier or clothing person. So we are doing lots of work and we are all worn out. What a rip-off.

These stories make me sick how is cutting 40% of store supervisors mostly hourly level a good thing? The pay protection is just so they have time to hire lower paid “team associates” without having to pay long term higher paid associates severance. Plus allows them to tap these seasoned associates for training their cheaper replacements. These articles are proof enough to me the media only shares what it’s paid to do. Another use and lose Maneuver to appease the share holders and spun to make Walmart look like a low paid worker champion.

Walmart definitely knows how to "spin" a press release . . . peel back the layers – and there is a whole other story going on here. And, yes, the timing s—s. We're getting ready to go into a second wave of Covid – greed is what is definitely dictating this move at this time.

Going to do the same thing as sams club. Eliminate most management. Leads will be taking over everything. Self checkout only. Everyone WILL be cross trained in just about every department. Walmart doesn't give raises out of the kindness from their hearts. That would displease major shareholders. Their is always a catch.

Did you see the part where "all associates will be able to continue working at Walmart IF THEY CHOOSE TO?" They'll keep the same pay through "at least" October 2021." What do you think that REALLY means? Walmart cut out a bunch of layers at the management level this year. Do you think they're doing the same thing at the store level?

So no one mentioned how the dms no longer exist... yes some of them might be promoted but the reality is only the s—s up get promoted in this company... also the schedule that we’ve been accustomed to or might need in our personal lives due to well having a life we won’t be able to have that any longer it’s already hard enough to find daycare without adding all the extra... this change should have waited until things were back to normal we’re in the middle of a pandemic most companies are still not even open let alone the schools this is the worst time to do anything like this I’m sure Sam Walton is rolling in his grave
