Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

People are leaving (and nobody cares)

The economy has never been worse and yet so many people are opting to leave Allstate right now. That should tell you all you need to know about the state of the company. Of course, the people leaving are some of our best but does the management care? No. I guess they're just happy to save on severance.

I am pretty certain I will be laid off within a week or so/go into assessment as the Tech layoffs drop. Heck just give me that Severance and end the misery. With the severance and additional pandemic assistance I can survive - better to be laid off now than later which almost seems inevitable over the next 3 years as per our VP.

I just waiting for severance pay. Regardless if I get laid off I’m gone if I don’t get laid off I’m still gone the companies been just too toxic to work for. When we finally get rid of insurance completely no longer write those policies it’s going to be another layoff with national general because just like you said it will be another layoff. This is just not a good environment to be in any more. People need stable jobs and Allstate is not able to provide them.Everyone’s life is on hold you can’t buy a house you can’t buy a car you don’t they’re going to vacation spend any money. Just a toxic environment

Definitely not worth it if you’re that new, I’m sticking around as I’ve been here 6 years so severance is worth the wait. It only gets worse at this company, it has steadily declined in my 6 years (which isn’t really that long).

I’m applying my a– off. I was a recent hire earlier this year. This completely tanked any enthusiasm I had and there is literally zero point to wait for a severance. Two weeks of pay? For however long worth of stress? NAH

I envy anyone who is able to walk away. I’m looking, just haven’t found anything yet. The ones that have gotten out are the lucky ones.

For those who left early were you able to still get your severance I was told you can as long as as you have a conversation with your manager?

From where I sit, no one has resigned at higher numbers. Looks like people are hanging on for more data. You might not know this but there are 35k plus people working at Allstate in various areas and business units.

Immediate managers and their managers almost certainly care, they don’t want good employees leaving. This goes beyond them, I doubt they have any control over layoffs at all. I know in my state more and more keep resigning (including people I didn’t think would leave). If this continues there isn’t going to be anyone left

I resigned my position as a 12 year Sr Claim analysis on Monday. Took a job with the State of WA. I had no choice. I have a family I need to take care of and the work environment at Allstate has been toxic for some time with more and more micro-managing by a bunch of managers and auditors that are only concerned about self preservation. Severance is not a big enough incentive and I can now breath with the stress monkey off my back. Good bye.
