Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Add hours, there is nobody to add..

Today is my 8th day in a row , working 9+ hours a day. I am physically and mentally exhausted.
Every day there is a new challenge, call offs, people quitting. No one applying, except for minors.
BBB starting $ rate is to low to hire people. To make matters even worse, the freight right now is overwhelming. The managers are at there wits end, and irritable.
I'll I hear from co workers is that there looking for other jobs. I have always been a team player, what ever was asked of me , I agreed. But I just can't handle it anymore.
Help us BBB, you put us in this situation.
What are your thoughts from your store. Is it the same ??

Trust and believe there’s a job out there for everyone. Bbb has changed in the worst way possible. I’ve been out of that place for 3 years now and it’s all for the best. Seeing your post made my skin crawl.. The way the company runs is ridiculous. There’s never a plan in place and no transparency. Everyone is always caught off guard. Working there when things where “ good “ was amazing. But they took way to long to catch up and the competition is just laughing at them. Bbb thought their registry system was always going to work for them. Nope. BTC. Nope. With traffic consistently dropping in the stores the only people you get are the coupon hoarders ( because you can’t use expired coupons online ) so you’re never a positive in sales because you lost your 13% margin for the 20%coupon. Do yourself a favor. Look for other employment. It’s not worth your health stressing to get things done when you’re not getting the help and resources you need.

Look your supervisor/store manager in the eye and tell them you're taking a day(s) off. What are they going to do, fire you? If they do you'll collect unemployment and if they threaten to challenge tell them they broke the labor law making you work more than six consecutive days. Do get out of there as soon as possible. Work at a relaxed pace, don't let them stress you. It's ultimately the Store Managers responsibility (that's why they get the higher pay) to get things done which means they will have to break a sweat and work the floor instead of hiding in the office on "conference calls". F Em!!!

This is not Goodwill, a volunteer position, or extra curricular.

If you don’t want to work for pay - quit and find a better job or host COVID parties for a paid break.

We went through the same thing with Sears.

I have been out from BBB for over a year. Age and specific hirings have kept me from being hired in other companies. You are lucky to have a job and getting the overtime. Cherish it while you can. As for BBB, it went from a customer service store to self service and online. The company makes more money in online services then in store, especially since the virus came into play. So, expect more layoffs and more store closings in the near future.

BBB doesn't care about anyone's concerns, they only care about money. They haven't figured out that they are alienating themselves with their bad behavior. No good employees will want to stay or apply and no decent human will shop there knowing we are a sweat shop.
