Thread regarding Disney layoffs

Are things ever going to improve

It seems that every new day is worse than the previous one.

The major issue here is an entire industry collapsing in Orlando with zero jobs to transfer over to when everyone gets laid off. It’s not like a retail store closing and you can go find another retail job somewhere else. Orlando is dependent on tourism. I can see home prices falling and people moving out in droves. Disney stock should be going way down by end of year.

The economists are predicting that Orlando tourism will not fully rebound for five years. Disney, Universal, and SeaWorld can only exist so long with visitors who are Florida residents or those few that drive to Florida from other places. Just look at their recent reductions in park hours, because there are not enough visitors. Most of Florida tourism is dependent on air travelers, and that business is almost non-existent, especially for international travelers. The airlines are predicting that it will take at least three years to recover, and that's after a vaccine is in full use, worldwide, which is now not predicted to be until late 2021, at the earliest.

I don’t see anything getting back to pre covid times for like 5 years. Out of any state out there Florida will suffer the most, especially Orlando area. Crazy to think that tourism supports over 40% of the workforce in the Orlando area. What an absolute disaster.
