UP recorded $1.5 billion in 1st quarter or over $16 million per day, they reported $1.1 million in 2nd quarterly or over $12 million per day and yet so called essential workers are being let go at a record pace. A company can only cut so much before diminishing returns set in, you can not service the customer, let alone grow the business if you don't have the experienced employees to do the work. All these cuts will only get the operating ratio so low, you need to grow the business for long term success, unfortunately UP is not going to have any employees to accomplish that.

Oh who cares ., Its only a matter of time till they get rid of all of us
I think this is what they want especially for agreement employees. Lay off and then make it miserable for the remainder of people left to get the UNION labor out. Then cry that they don’t have people to work and get out of the UNION contracts. Then contract the work out or eventually have a non UNION workforce.

Im glad they get rid of all these new guys, I hated them anyway. Just the sight of them makes me puke.I have plenty of seniority and have no worries living high off the hog. My 401 is weighted heavily towards N.S. stock, and have been profiting quite handsomely from this trimming of the fat.Of course I myself do as little as possible while those stupid younger guys work till they drop , Ahh Haa
With the holidays coming up and Covid still growing strong on line Christmas will boom ups will be counting on ns for on time delivery.. won’t happen lack of man power will delay trains serves the greedy company right
Why the name change? Are they trying to appear “woke” by distancing themselves from “Southern”? Will their diversity initiatives include extra paid holidays for Juneteenth, and MLK birthdays for the employees?
