Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Applying for too many internals triggering alerts

I and others have gotten "alerts" basically stating that we are applying for too many internal jobs at once and that this is placing us in spam lists with Allstate recruiters and flagging our applications. Supposedly there is an unwritten rule that you can only apply for a certain number of internal jobs and only those so many bands below or over your current band. So it seems we are being blacklisted for mass applying for internal roles? This alert basically told us we are applying for too much and that is a bad thing. WTF? This company is something else. SMH.

I’m so sorry for everyone. I retired from Allstate a few years back ( not my idea). The way this is being handled is unforgivable. It is truly a slaughter.

You can apply for all the internal jobs you want. You will never be considered. They want you gone. You application just really goes in black hole

Why do you want to stay At Allstate?

How many jobs did you apply to in order to get that alert? I applied to 15 jobs about 2 weeks ago about 10 are 2 bands higher than what I am at and I received no alerts.

Actually it is true. I as well have received an email from Allstate recruiting flagging me saying my applying rate and level of application versus my current band is not sufficient and that my applications are being "noted accordingly" or I guess flagged. I am seeing what OP is seeing.

Not true. The internal careers page doesn't do that and there are no "flags" on applications. The system will allow you to apply for anything, whether you're qualified or not.

GS is doing his best to get rid of the “E” band

Incorrect. You have lift and shift confused with applying after being laid off. You are correct that you can refuse an offer in which they are trying to move you into a position that is less than 90% of your pay. However if you are laid off as a band B2 and voluntarily apply and post for a band 4 position and are offered the job and decline then you are giving up your severance as you are refusing a job that you yourself applied for and are being offered by the company.

You don’t have to accept a job offer unless it’s at least 90% of your pay. If you decline something under 90% you get severance

Here is some inside information, it is preferred that a person doesn't jump bands B to D or C to E for example, it is preferred C to D, then D to E, and so on.

If you are qualified then apply, there are however too many instances of people applying for anything and not bothering to look at see if they are qualified, why would a person who is in claims apply for an IT position when they have no IT experience?

There are open jobs that are getting a significant amount of applicants and unfortunately most will get rejected before getting to the hiring manager.

It is important to understand that if you have received a layoff notice and are then offered an internal job you applied for and then decline that job you will not get severance.

There are many who are in fact being considered for internal positions that have received a layoff notice and there are some who are in the process of receiving offers.

Doubt the are considering those who were laid off for internal positions unless they "know someone" due to concerns of brining back those who may carry with them grudges and bad attitudes for being let go. This was common in past layoffs. Our area would not consider laid off persons due to this concern in prior situations.

I applied for 2 different jobs (within my band) and was denied completely for both, only received emails that I was rejected. Not sure if I’m going to bother again, I think so many people are applying for anything decent unless you “know someone” it’s useless
