Thread regarding Belk layoffs

belk is the “titanic” of department stores

The way belk is operated now under the “covid 19” excuse is pure lunacy. Belk was on a downward spiral starting when Harper took over. Things went from different, to odd, to bizarre to now they are bat shyt crazy. And now this is where we are, hanging on while the ship sinks, yet no executives want to admit we are all going to fall overboard.

When our RVP said $15 an hour is "top pay", I knew we were in trouble.

Man the lifeboats!!!!! Uh, sorry they were all sold at 70% off plus coupon plus Belk reward dollars. In other words we're doing GREAT! We sold out. Just as well, they would have been filled with store employees instead of those who matter. Move along,. There's nothing to see here. Iceberg? What iceberg? Pay no attention to that iceberg ahead.

I knew we were in trouble as a store manager probably in late 2017 when the CEO and corporate HR had yet to visit our store after the Sycamore takeover two years prior and Lisa Harpers takeover in the summer 2016. I gave it a year and figured they just had to make their “rounds” but I was wrong. The Belk brothers along with HR would be in my store atleast once a year and actually talk to managers and associates. Then there was word that Lisa Harper secretly wanted to eliminate the “family, small town atmosphere” that Belk stores had, I knew we were in deep trouble at the point. customers started to notice something was “off”, employees started quitting, executives started quitting, managers were quitting in droves, and now its September 2020 and this is what Belk has turned into. A complete disaster.
