Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Belk managers are lying to employees, don’t fall for it!

Managers are telling employees that the company is not in dire straits (near bankruptcy) and that 16 people working in a 30,000 square foot store with only 4 registers open is normal, Macy’s, Khols, Dillard’s have twice or three times as many employees as Belk does and all fitting rooms open. belk is also asking employees to wait until next year to take PTO, under no circumstances should an employee fall for this, Belk won’t be around at this time next year, or if it is it will only be a small number of stores. Having managers spending all day doing online orders/packing/shipping that a $10/hr employee should be doing is a red flag that something is very, very wrong here.

The managers are just as in the dark as you are. I assure you that no top secret information about the state of the company is shared with anyone at store level. Even the store managers don’t know. Managers are only telling you what they have been told. Corporate is being untruthful to everyone. Please don’t turn on your managers (unless they’re just jerks in general). They are just as scared and miserable as you are, trust me.

Sears managers did the same thing. Our Sears store was announced for closure 2 days after the manager said we were one the best stores in the company.

Belk managers are lying. You are so right my friend. They are hanging on by a thread but continue to say how well we are doing. Sometimes with only 3 or 4 associates they will say we made our numbers of $6000. when each associate has only rung 3 or 4 hundred. And fulfillment has slowed way down. When I try to save the sale there has been nothing left to sell. We are selling everything so cheap that only people that will only pay the lowest price are coming in. It is rare when a customer will be happy with 60 % off anymore. You would think they would be focusing on center core but we have not had an associate scheduled there in months. It is so overrun with stuff piled up that it is embarrassing. I could write a book about the horrible things going on in belk. You would think if they any decency they least disclose some information. Oh wait I forgot sycamore and belk corporation have no decency. You are so right get out while you can. Also did you notice fitch ratings did not say if belk and joann default but when they default. As for using your paid time off as a part time associate my paid time off has not been accruing since I came back from furlough. The only ones allowed to take any time is mostly managers who have been taking back to back vacations. It is really sad what its come to. But don't forget a good belk associate will be in denial until the end. Good luck to all of you !
