Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

B&N's Non-Disclosure Agreements and what you need to know

I signed one when I was forced out, I should have talked to a lawyer first. But B&N gets you when you're most vulnerable and pressures you to sign it before you're escorted out of the building.
My warning to you is talk to a lawyer and don't sign anything!

It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Once consumers since a company is dying they stop shopping there. Once the liquidation sale starts they head for bargains. Look at Lord & Taylor.

Daut should have used push strategies to get consumers back in the stores. This is marketing 101.

Maybe declaring bankruptcy “in 3 days”? Come on, Anonymous Poster, what’s happening at the end of the week?

I think there is more bad news coming. Unless they wait until after the holidays. January is always a great time to end things for people...
but please spend all of your money at our store during the holidays before we get rid of you!

Call their bluff.
Let them know they don’t scare you.
They already fired you what else can they do?
They’d like you to believe they can keep your money from you . They can’t !
So tell them to F off & do what you want.
They’re cowards who are more afraid of you !

Honestly, B/N is so broke right now they can barely afford to make payroll, much less sue a former employee for "disclosure" or working for another book store.

Even if you disclose, BN will not do anything. I mean, just look at all the stuff I "exposed" here that has been deleted by the mods. Again, you can say what you want and work where you please, BN is not going to come after you for anything. It is all scare tactics.

I went to work for Books A Million.
Called their bluff.

This is standard boilerplate stuff. Everybody does it. What's the problem?

They don't want you discussing anything about the company, they don't want you to work with any other book retail/company (like there are huge secrets someone would want from a huge FAILING business), you can't discuss anything about your agreement or settlement. It's kind of like being Melania Trump but with much less money.

I'm sorry. I confused. What are you people agreeing to NOT disclose?

There are many people at my store who should have sued. They had great discrimination cases and lots of witnesses. Most cases are hard to prove and law firms will think they're not worth the time, but even then I would not sign anything until I talk to someone. B&N is playing dirty pool all the time.

I hope everyone from the Facebook Bookseller's page is reading all of this information!

If a lawyer determines that your case is worth proceeding with, you don’t pay until they settle for you. It can be a win financially for you! Check it out before you sign.

As long as you can afford a lawyer that's fine. They don't come cheap.
