I have seen so many posts blaming one or the other people for layoffs, I have been in the industry long enough to experience layoffs/startup shutdowns. End of the day, it leaves terrible, longlasting taste looking back to blame someone. My 2 cents advice is to move on and feel better that you probably have avoided a stale and stagnant career. I know it sounds cliche, but when you focus on what's essential ( like acquiring new skills or contributing to opensource/own projects ) you would find something that's way better than the position you were in.

There has been changes in the leadership team for the past 9 months or so, with all these execs "retiring", giving their last speech at GKs all hands. Some VPs too moved on before the layoffs, after their role said to be "to be defined". I'm an IC , escaped the layoff, this time . NApp is in capital T transformation again.. keep ur skills up...
I think it’s okay to be upset about being laid off. Especially when half the country has also been laid off bc of market conditions. NetApp’s mass lay-off was not a result of said market conditions. What a terrible terrible time to decide to follow through with “realignments”. Jesus.
Yes layoffs are very common and it is acceptable when the decision is fair ACROSS the company. How is it fair when there is no change in the leadership team? ICs work on direction from directors but there is no impact to any of the directors in SF. That's strange and hard to accept.
