Maybe you should be concerned about Amtrak because their employees pay into RRT and if Amtrak dies so does all that RRT $$..

If it's efficiency you want, don't worry. Union Pacific has you covered. 1 man crews, then no man crews with autonomy, then 1 carman wrapping 126 cars by himself in -20 degree weather. They're going to efficiently run you out of a job.
Amtrak broke even last year before covid. How many US government programs do you know that can say they cost the taxpayers nothing? Get your facts right. I'd rather work for them than a greedy corporation like Union Pacific any day. Top bosses making bonuses while everyone else suffers. That's the "efficiency" you want, you can have it.
Some government services aren’t needed anymore. We don’t have a US Military Telegraph Corps anymore either. Everyone drives on the roads. Nobody travels long distance by passenger train anymore unless it is for nostalgia. There are certain pockets in heavily populated areas where passenger service is both heavily utilized and profitable. In most areas of the country, traveling by train is neither efficient nor heavily used. So taxpayers are subsidizing a dying industry for only a minority that use the service. And of course UP likes it because they take the money from Amtrak.
Every government service is "Living off the taxpayers". Should we make every road a toll road too so some giant corporation can make profit?
Defund Amtrak quit living off the taxpayers
Wouldn’t matter if the Metra trains were packed, UP won’t let the conductors collect fares.
Cal Ave is next on the chopping block!! Dirty trains = no riders!!
Both are subsidized my the government. Same deal, nobody riding equals more subsidized money. You don't get the extra money, their are layoffs.
Government assistance is needed for metra to operate. Nobody riding the trains no need for assistance.
And the taxpayers are paying for it. Amtrak loses money every year since it was created. Defund Amtrak
Why should we care about Amtrak? The UP has their own problems to deal with right now.
