Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

North Platte is still in the lead.

With so many rumors of bringing us down with layoffs soon and shop shutting down, we still manage to stay ahead of every other shop with numbers and safety. Thats how we keep a shop from being noticed in radar. Lets just stick together and keep doing what we do best, work hard. Recalls to come soon. Thank you Vena for believing in us.

What improved customer shipping times? If the times have improved, then why did the FRA and the STB send a letter requesting reasoning for crew shortages and excessively late trains? Someone had too much of the UP Kool-aid.

No layoffs im telling you we are in the best spot!

Union Pacific will begin operating Bailey Yard as a single classification yard, due to improved customer shipment processing times.

All rail shipments will be sorted on the west side of Bailey Yard, which plays a critical role on the Union Pacific network. The changes are a testament to the team’s operational excellence and safe, reliable service to customers. We do not anticipate changes at Bailey Yard will have a significant impact on the estimated 1,600 employees who are based in North Platte.

If NP is so great, then why are they shutting down a portion of it?

East hump or any hump in NP will never close thy need us. This is the spot tht is much needed. We will always be busy for lifetime. These are just hatred rumors. We are so busy like you all wouldn’t believe. Overtime like crazy, if it wasnt for us UP would be in the hole. We are much needed ask our managers. I think there is a sense of very much jealousy. We will continue to produce all locomotives needed to survive this pandimic.

We were just informed they are shutting down the east hump at North Platte. I think if I lived in North Platte I would be looking for another occupation if I was employed by the RR. Listen to the last town hall with crying LF and the one man crew thing is about to happen from what I can gather. Here in Omaha we are being told that N.P is probably going to be a whistle stop eventually. Just look what happened to Pocatello ID. They thought they were important and they were at one time, but as we all know things change. Good luck to you people I hope I am wrong I’m just reporting what I’ve heard in Omaha. Just remember you’ve been warned.

Every location pencil whips I dont care where it is. The reason you only see the junk is because running locomotives dont go to the shop. Anywhere. If omaha knows about it then they dont care. If there is a derailment because of it they are just as much at fault. And if you know omaha knows then the fra knows omaha knows and it doesnt matter. Every one turns out junk.

When your managers get caught falsifying documents ( pencil whipping/ key stroking) to make your numbers, they will be looking for a job themselves. Sending units out down the tracks only to have them come right back juat so the dwell time stays down. Sending units out with major FRA defects saying they have been repaired, it will eventually catch up to them, and it's coming soon. You see Omaha knows how it's being done, and when shi+ starts to get thick thats when they will have your managers to take the fall, they use them as a scape goat. "Yes, yes make the numbers, so great" until they need someone to take the fall. It's coming and when it does I feel for all our NP guys, cause it will affect all of us and cuts will be deep. Starting with the "pencil whippers"

Ok so how about you actually fix something! Ive seen the shlt thats sent out of there, then I see your post. Stop trying to BS yourself and everyone else. Stop saying NP is the best, when you know damn well you're not.

This post is funny because we were number 1 in the KPI rankings for a while, we did everything they told us, and we were given assurances about our job security as long as we kept hitting it hard. We did everything asked of us (mechanical and transportation) and it happened anyway. Now our location is a sad and empty shell of its former self. You might want to tone down your vainglorious attitude, because there are other shops that worked hard and were cut deeply anyway. NP hasn't been cut as much because of location and size.....nothing more. It's not like your shop has cornered the market on ultra hard working geniuses. You clearly don't understand how your massive volume helps your KPI rankings. When your yard is cut down to bare bones and your trains are cut down to only 3 a day, your numbers take a dump. Nobody to move engines = longer dwell times. Nobody to repair engines = longer repair times. 3 trains leave a day and 1 breaks down? Congratulations on your 33.3% failure rate. Look at every location that has been cut versus their numbers beforehand. KPI always goes down. It's a flawed rating system with garbage in -garbage out numbers that get interpreted by executives with a limited level of education. That being said, I hope you don't get cut because I hate to see people lose their jobs. You don't want to go through what other shops have gone through. At the same time I don't understand the constant NP need to be boastful. Let's hope you don't end up eating crow.
