I am wrapping my head over all these changes. We lost several hourly FT employees at baby. (dept leads) They were told they are “re-hireable”. Why wouldn’t they give them the option to step down to PT - is my main question? We’re going to have to hire pt associates to offset the loss of these ft associates. Do they become eligible right away for re hire or a specific time frame? Anyone have some insight on this? Some of them are actually willing to come back as PT.

We were told part timers couldn't work over 25 hours unless it's the holiday season.
They don't have to rehire at their same rate. That's the main reason they make them wait 2 weeks before they rehire.
This is all very weird, I know of part-timers working over the 30-hour ACA threshold. So, drop the FT to PT to save on benefits AND continue to give some PTs 35 to 38 hours? As usual, the rumors continue on this site. Well we ever know the truth?
If cutting full timers to part time. And you’re saying there’s a loophole to pay for benefits why wouldn’t one do it?
I would love to hear more about this loophole dropping full timers to part time and making them wait 3 weeks so you can’t get benefits
They make you wait and reapply so that you cannot qualify for benefits. There is a loophole in the affordable health care act that allows full time associates to receive their same level of benefits for $60 a paycheck if they step down to part time.
If you get hired before the end of your severance it has to get paid back pro rated be careful. It’s in the agreement read what you sign
People....really?? The take you back PT WIYHOUT offering you Benifits.
And hey let's bring the terminated back.....we don't have to train them ! Let's be real about it.
They should apply like anyone else that is interested in a job. Not rocket science!
We had 6 people let go at the store I work at on Tuesday. We were already short handed. The store won't be able to function properly.
You do not have to wait!! You can reapply immediately.
If one was willing to come back
Part time I’m wondering why they
Make you wait 3 weeks?
I worked at a Bed Bath and Beyond with a Buy Buy Baby on the inside of it (partial Baby store). I was part-time for 3 years, I just got promoted to full-time in July, and I found out I was just laid off yesterday. I only was full-time for a couple of months, but my store manager did tell me I was eligible to come back as part-time. He broke it down as basically- you are laid off, you have to re-apply completely and start from the very bottom. As far as I understand, not only does your title change, but pay would as well. I made the decision to accept the lay off and move forward to find something more secure. It’s all so heart breaking for every one it impacted, but many of us deserve better. This company is sinking, very quickly.
